Here at TV Fanatic, we love it every time we get the chance to talk to the star of one of our favorite shows. This time, I had the pleasure of chatting with one such guy from a cute little show called Matlock.
You may know this guy as Jacobson Moore’s cutest co-worker, Matty, played by Kathy Bates, who is determined to take down the elite law firm. Don’t worry, because this character is way off Madeleine’s hit list.
If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m happy to introduce you to David Del Rio and his lovable character Billy. This guy is just as funny and lovable as his personality.
We took a deep dive into the premiere season of Matlock and discussed many aspects of the show, getting a real inside look at the inner workings of this amazing series.
As much as I’d love to chat with David for hours, I’d probably exhaust the thespian with my many, many questions.
I used a little bit of my time to keep that person busy, so to speak.
Anyone lucky enough to watch Matlock Season 1 Episode 7 got a crash course in David Del Rio’s stellar performance. I may be biased, but this is such a strong emotional scene.
Spoiler alert for fans who haven’t seen Matlock episode 7 yet.

As you can see for yourself, David and I had an in-depth discussion and a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to attend all the races I had planned. I’ll save them for next time.
One thing I took away from the interview is that Kathy Bates is every bit as amazing as everyone imagined. I’m not going to lie; it definitely made me like Matlock even more.
Here’s a fun fact about this interview: Before we started recording, I warned David Del Rio that I would most likely call him Billy. It was a Christmas miracle, but I didn’t.
Hearing how well the cast worked together confirmed my long-held suspicions about the show. The chemistry between the actors clearly shows how well they work together.
And, as an added bonus, who knew Jason Ritter was Matlock’s best dancer? So if we see his character Julian dancing poorly, we know it’s just solid acting.
Fingers crossed this is just the first of many interviews with the Matlock cast. Especially since David Del Rio gave us the last bit of information about the first season of CBS’ Matlock.
The show has an episode lined up for its very loyal fanbase before taking a break after the New Year, and I have a feeling it’s going to be a heavy episode that will leave viewers shaken until the break is over.
What do you think was the best part of the interview?
