The NFL appears to be siding with Jay-Z and moving forward with their relationship amid a civil lawsuit filed in early December that alleges the Roc Nation CEO raped a 13-year-old girl.
During a Wednesday (Dec. 11) press conference ahead of the Netflix Christmas game, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was asked about the league’s relationship with Jay-Z and that they don’t plan to make any changes in the coming months. .
“We are aware of the civil charges and Jay-Z’s strong reaction to them,” Goodell responded. “We are aware that litigation is taking place now. From our perspective, our relationship has not changed [Roc Nation]including our preparations for the next Super Bowl.
Jay partnered with the NFL in 2019 to have Roc Nation produce entertainment events for the league, including the famous Super Bowl halftime show with Kendrick Lamar expected to take place in New Orleans in February 2025 Headlining the game.
Last weekend, Jay-Z was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl with Diddy at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The shocking civil case was filed by an anonymous plaintiff, Texas attorney Tony Buzbee, whom Jay called a “deplorable human being.”
The Brooklyn rap mogul didn’t waste much time, denying all the accusations against Buzbee in a statement attacking him.
“It’s a gross error of judgment that you think all ‘celebrities’ are the same,” Jay-Z said. “I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who came out of the Brooklyn Project. We don’t play these types of games. We have a very strict code and honor. We protect children and you seem to be out for personal gain. And exploit others. Only your network of conspiracy theorists…will believe the stupid claims you make about me that would be laughable if not for the severity of the harm to children. I look forward to showing you how much I am. Be different.
Jay-Z continued, “My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I are going to have to sit our kids down and one of them has arrived and her friends are definitely going to see the media and ask about this.” Questions about the nature of the argument and explaining the age of cruelty and greed in people. I mourned yet another loss of innocence.
