New Jersey Democratic Representative Josh Gottheimer may be a native Jerseyan, but his recent Spotify Wrapped results appear to call into question his allegiance to the Garden State.
according to newjersey.comGottheimer is one of countless people around the world who participate in Spotify’s annual Wrapped event, which allows them to reflect on their listening habits over the past year. Fittingly, the results he shared revealed that he’s a huge fan of New Jersey music icon Bruce Springsteen.
“No surprises here… Fun fact: My first concert was at the Meadowlands to see The Boss!” Gottheimer shared an image on social media showing his performance this year. The top five songs are Springsteen’s “Thunder Road,” “Because the Night,” “Glory Days,” “Badlands” and “The Rising.”
However, New Jersey Monitor was quick to weigh in, pointing out some differences Comparison between Gottheimer’s results and other Wrapped profiles. Specifically, font choice and spacing were singled out as points of contention, ultimately enough to be deemed fake.
When asked for comment, Gottheimer said in a statement: “If I didn’t share my account with my 12-year-old and 15-year-old kids, it would be my Spotify Wrapped.” “While I have my whole day It’s all Springsteen – don’t get me wrong, I still love listening to Taylor Swift!”
After the backlash, Gottheimer once again used social media to calm low-level anger. “To paraphrase my boss: Baby, I’m not here for business, I’m just here for fun.” he wrote. “So relax. This is a fun holiday tweet. Questioning my Sting credibility is a joke, just ask my dog Rosalita!
“Let’s get back to what people really care about – lower taxes, lower costs!” he added.
Gottheimer later shared his real Top five artists and songswhich states that Springsteen is indeed his No. 1, followed by Billy Joel, Drake, Travis Scott and Taylor Swift.
In terms of songs, Springsteen’s 1975 song “She’s the One” ranks third, while the top spot is Joel’s 2024 pop comeback “Turn the Lights Back On.” However, Gottheimer has yet to respond to a fellow New Jerseyan over his decision to relinquish the top spot to a New York artist.
