Myles Smith’s “Stargazing” caps off a triumphant 27-week run at No. 1. advertising billboardIt rose on the December 21 Rock & Alternative Music Airplay Chart.
According to Luminate, “Stargazing” racked up 4.7 million audience impressions across alternative, adult alternative and mainstream rock coverage stations in the week ending Dec. 12, a 15% increase.
The song sets the longest streak for a solo male artist to reach No. 1 on the charts since “Rock & Alternative Airplay” began in June 2009, tying for fifth place.

“Stargazing” is Smith’s first rock and alternative airplay chart-topper, marking the British singer-songwriter’s first chart-topping hit. He is the third person to achieve an initial lead on the chart this year, following “The Offspring” (“Make It All Right”), “Hozier” (“Too Sweet”) and “Pearl Jam” (“Dark Matter”) artist. He is the first to achieve this feat with a single “Ramon Ayala” since 2022’s “Ramon Ayala” from “Giovannie & the Hired Guns.” The last time he achieved this feat as a lead vocalist was in 2018’s “No Roots.”
On its way to a rock and alternative airplay crowning, “Stargazing” topped the alternative airplay charts in September. (At the latest count, it ranked fifth.) It also led adult pop players for the second week in a row, following a week ahead of pop players. It became the eighth song to reach number one on Rock & Alternative Airplay, Alternative Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay and Pop Airplay, joining Hozier’s “Too Sweet” and “Panic!” in early 2024. “High Hopes” at the Portuguese Disco (2018-19). “Feel It Still” by The Man (2017), “Stressed Out” by Twenty One Pilots (2015-16), “Royals” by Lorde (2013), the fun “We Are Young” by Janelle Starring Monáe (2012) and Gotye’s Somebody That I Once To Know, starring Kimbra (2012).
“Stargazing” also peaked at No. 4 on Adult Alternative Airplay and No. 3 on the recently released Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart (Dec. 14, reflecting the tracking week of Nov. 29-Dec. 5), all Broadcast audience impressions were 53.4 million, official US streams were 6.3 million, and sales were 1,000.
