The Blue Bayou promo for NCIS: Origins seems to be sending mixed messages to viewers. However, we’re not mad about it because we’re getting a Christmas episode out of it.
The first promo for the episode is your standard mix of heavy drama and action, lasting a brief but exciting seventeen seconds. Considering what happened in Vivo o Muerto, there’s still a lot to unpack.
But like an early holiday gift, the show gave fans an adorable one-minute clip from NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 10. Completely clear.
One thing we undoubtedly expect is that Lala will have a few words to say to Franks and Gibbs. It can be said that promotions are just the tip of the iceberg.
As far as Lala’s story and relevance are concerned, things are finally working in her favor
For much of the first season of NCIS: Origins, Lala was the show’s most disliked character. Granted, the blame lies with the writers, as the actress keeps killing it with the material she’s been given.
As expressed in reviews and show reviews, establishing a connection between Gibbs and Lala early on seems to be a detriment to the story.
However, it’s now clearer than ever why the writers had to carefully maneuver Gibbs and Lala together. If they hit it off right from the start, it’s bound to set off alarm bells in every viewer’s mind.
Until NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 9, we thought Gibbs was still grieving. I don’t know about you, but I love a good twist and this is a Matlock worthy reveal.
We may love it, but it’s clear from the awkward car ride home scene at the end of the episode that not everyone is happy.
Franks and Gibbs kept Lara in the dark and established an independent unit
At the beginning of the promo, viewers can hear Lala say, “I’m leaving Franks’ team.” Those words are a bit heavy, but she seems to mean it.
Gibbs tried to respond, but Agent Dominguez interrupted, saying, “I don’t trust you, Gibbs. I definitely don’t trust you two together.”
oops. As a Hispanic male, I can confirm that this may be a hindrance to her. But don’t worry. As long as she doesn’t beat the Spaniard, Gibbs won’t get hurt.
It’s honestly hard to pick a side, but it’s one of the best parts of NCIS: Origins. This means there is nothing black or white in life. Everything is gray.
On the one hand, the show does a good job of hiding Lala’s close ties to the Gibbs family case. We don’t know. Then again, neither does Gibbs (Austin Stowell), so he must be feeling pretty guilty.
Meanwhile, who can blame Gibbs for not wasting time in getting rid of Hernandez? But that’s not the issue here. Well, that’s not the only problem.
By leaving Lala in the dark, Gibbs and Franks separate themselves as a separate entity from the team as a whole, and from Lala in particular.
Did I mention this is a Christmas episode? As most TV fans know, Christmas episodes are the perfect opportunity to combine the cheerful tone of the holidays with devastating news.
Who knew that beneath Gibbs’ melancholy demeanor lurked a vacation enthusiast?
In a special clip released by CBS, two previously unseen figures were on duty at the precinct before Gibbs entered.
It’s obvious from the start that there’s a strong theme of holiday cheer. The female character wears antlers and has Christmas lights twinkling behind her. Again, as far as I know, we never see this character.
Maybe she’ll replace Tyla Abercrumbie’s Mary Jo tonight. God knows crime doesn’t care about working hours. She didn’t give much information, but her eyes spoke volumes.
The only thing that can be seen from the clip is that an unknown girl apparently has a crush on the unknown male character. Oh, by the way, Gibbs got a phone call that needed a distraction.
When in doubt, trimming your Christmas tree can be a great way to fill your time. I guess now the secret is out and Gibbs doesn’t have to tone down his “cheerful” attitude to cover up what he’s done.
I bet the lock of hair has something to do with Gibbs and Franks trying to smooth things over with Mariel Molino (Promised Land) Lala. Maybe some kind of Christmas wonderland could soothe her anger. Give her enough nostalgia and holiday cheer to make her stay.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, unless you’re Agent Lara Dominguez
The official synopsis for NCIS: Origins Season 1, Episode 10 reads: “As Leroy Jethro Gibbs prepares to spend his life without his wife and daughter, ‘s first Christmas, flashbacks reveal his unlikely journey to his first days as an agent at the National Intelligence Service.
The first thing I want to see is how this whole conversation between Lala and Gibbs goes. More importantly, I had to know how the conversation between Lala and Franks went.
In fact, start from scratch. I wonder if Tish knew that Franks helped Gibbs take out Hernandez. I’m pretty sure her reaction was probably right.
That’s probably wishful thinking, because who else is dying to know what the hell happened to Tish? Why is Franks (Kyle Schmid) overprotective of her?
Tish and Mary Jo are on my list. These two are a complete vibe and I’m pretty sure each of them could knock someone out with their bare hands.
Whatever Blue Bayou brings to audiences, it’s sure to keep them entertained until the show returns in the second half of NCIS: Origins’ first season.
Yes, there will be a slight pause in our weekly schedule, with the show taking a break over the winter and returning in early 2025.
So enjoy eggnog, fruitcake, tamales, or whatever you have to celebrate the holidays. Or maybe you don’t celebrate holidays at all.
Regardless, NCIS: Origins will likely give viewers a lot to think about in the new year.
