Artists behind movies such as Dune: Part 2, evil and challenger He is one of the winners of the American Film Archive’s fourth annual “Salute to the Craft.” The event will be held on January 9 at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood.
Filmmakers and American Film Center board members Stephanie Allan and Paula Wagner will co-host the event. The event celebrates and honors individuals in 12 different categories, while showing clips of each of their work. Winners include emilia perez Choreographer Damien Jarrett, nickel boy Photographer Jomo Fray and evil Costume designer Paul Tazewell.
Additionally, the American Film Center will pay tribute to Ed Lachman. Rahman, an Academy Award-nominated cinematographer, will receive a Career Achievement Award for his extraordinary career. Lachman earned more than 80 credits in 50 years. Rahman’s film credits include Sofia Coppola’s virgin suicideSteven Soderbergh’s Erin Brockovichby Todd Haynes far from heaven and carol and Pablo Larrain count. Most recently, Rahman collaborated with Larrain on his latest film Mariaa film starring Angelina Jolie as opera singer Maria Callas.
“Film is the most collaborative of art forms, and the American Film Center is excited to celebrate the important work of the craftsmen and craftsmen behind this year’s best films,” American Film Center artistic director Grant Moninger said in a statement.
According to the organization, “Salute to the Craft” honors those who are at the heart of filmmaking and have demonstrated extraordinary work behind the scenes over the past year.
