Sexyy Red and GloRilla have some interesting things to say about the conversation surrounding female rappers today.
as part of extra largeIn the new cover story, Glo and sexyy ask each other questions, including the themes of their music. “So, a lot of people are giving female rappers a hard time, saying we’re too sexy or that our lyrics and videos are too much. How do you feel when you hear that?” the Memphis rapper asked.
“I think you’re all some haters,” Sexxy quickly replied. “I think y’all don’t want you to shine because y’all are insecure. When you all puff out your chests and show your little marks, and your drawls, your stinky butts, your toots It’s not a problem when you’re doing it, but when we’re doing it… you’re all stealing our style and it’s better when we do it.
GloRilla agreed, reciting the first line from Finesse2Tymes’ song “Back End,” saying: “It’s cool when they do it/It’s a problem when I do it, f—’em,” before laughing to himself .
Earlier in the interview, the pair considered what their joint project would sound like. “Ratchet as f—,” Glo responded after the St. Louis rapper asked the question. “That would be kind of stupid, Ratchet sh–. That– would hate us.” Sexyy, however, disagreed a bit, saying she believed the guys would “love it” since both of them are “certified.”
