Armando Bó won an Academy Award for co-writing the 2014 drama with Alejandro González Iñárritu Birdmanwill direct the feature and co-write the script with Josefina Licitra.
The project comes from Argentina and Uruguay-based About Entertainment; Infinity Hill, known for its Oscar-nominated films Argentina 1985; and Spanish independent global production company Suma Content.
Gascón will star in the film as Auntie Nkana, the strong yet motherly leader of a group of transgender sex workers whose life changes when she discovers an abandoned baby and decides to adopt him. Daily life was disrupted without realizing she was putting everyone around her at risk.
girls is the debut film of Argentinian transgender actress Velada.
