A group of familiar faces make the list advertising billboardMonthly Tour Report for November: Coldplay tops Hot Tours for the third time in 2024 and fifth time overall. According to data reported by Billboard Boxscore, the British quartet earned $71.1 million from nine performances in November and sold 609,000 tickets.
Coldplay has won the monthly title for the fifth time since the chart was launched in February 2019, behind Bad Bunny and Elton John, who have each won seven. Beyoncé and Trans-Siberia have each ruled four times, with the latter currently in the midst of its annual holiday tour.
Coldplay took Australasia by storm in November, playing two shows in Melbourne, Australia; four in Sydney; and three in Auckland, New Zealand. The four games at Sydney’s Accor Stadium grossed a whopping $37.4 million, ranking first in the Top Boxcores rankings. The Oakland show ($19.3 million) was second. If all these shows had ended in November, Coldplay would have swept the top three with a total of $28.8 million.
The latest stop on the Musical World Tour is, of course, the continuation of a three-year, cross-continental trek. Since kicking off in March 2022 in San Jose, Costa Rica, the event has earned more than $1.1 billion and sold 10.3 million tickets. This was a larger attendance for any tour in music history.
It’s a hard-earned piece of history that Coldplay has met in demand around the world. The tour has played sold-out stadium shows on five continents, with a further 48 dates planned for 2025 in Asia, Europe and North America. Of the tour’s three-year total revenue, with $400.9 million in revenue and 3 million tickets sold in the 2024 tracking period (October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024), Coldplay topped the list. advertising billboardYear-end top travel and top ticket sales rankings. This is the second year in a row that Chris Martin & Co. has topped the list.
Pearl Jam followed at No. 2 on the Top Tours chart, selling 314,000 tickets in November and generating sales of $41.8 million. Also in Australia and New Zealand, the band played two shows each in Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney, as well as one in Carrara (a Gold Coast suburb).
Coldplay and Pearl Jam each held two shows at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, grossing more than $30 million, finishing runner-up in the top stadiums behind Sydney’s Accor Stadium. In total, the two bands helped Oceania occupy four positions in the stadium rankings.
Three former Premier Tour champions rounded out the top five, with Zach Bryan, P!nk and Paul McCartney in third, fourth and fifth respectively. Bryan and P!nk both finished in the top five of the year-end Hot Tours and Hot Ticket Sales charts, and their recent November sales totals have put them in a good position on the 2025 charts.
While Oceania dominates the continent, Mexico City is the most popular city on the November rankings, occupying three spots in the Top 10 Top Boxcores. The festivals Corona Capital and Coca Cola Flow Fest ranked 5th and 9th respectively, while McCartney ranked 7th with two shows at Estadio GNP Seguros. All three films grossed eight figures.
Las Vegas wasn’t far behind, with three people in the top 15. Ranked eighth. In addition, the Eagles’ two weekend Sphere shows brought in a total of $18.5 million, ranking 11th and 13th respectively.
The November reports are sure to culminate with the December reports, setting the stage for the holiday season. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra ranked No. 10 on its top tour, while Mariah Carey ranked No. 17 on the first show of its fall tour. Additionally, New York’s Radio City Music Hall surpassed the top venues (seating 5,001 to 10,000 spectators) with $33.7 million in gross revenue, more than seven times that of the second-placed venue, the annual event. The Christmas celebration is about to begin.
