This is cool news for all horror movie fans out there! Lee Cronin (evil death rises) set to write and direct mummyone of its new movies showing at New Line Cinema.
Cronin shared a tease of the script on social media with the caption: “Something terrible will be unleashed in 2026.”
The filmmaker later told The Hollywood Reporter: “This is going to be unlike any ‘Mummy’ movie you’ve ever seen before. I’m digging deep into the earth to bring up something very ancient and very scary.
We’ll think this sounds great! I would love to see a Mummy movie that actually delivers some real horror and horror! That sounds interesting to me, and something Cronin would be able to pull off as a filmmaker.
Atomic Monster and Blumhouse will co-finance and produce the film, which is set to be released on April 17, 2026.
The film will be produced by James Wan, Jason Blum and John Kevil. “Some terrible things are going to happen in 2026,” the film’s official Instagram page said.
Universal Pictures released The Mummy in 1932, starring Boris Karloff as the iconic character Imhotep. The Mummy was later adapted into a successful action-adventure series in the 1990s by Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.
Universal Pictures’ latest release, “The Mummy,” starring Tom Cruise, flopped at the box office. That movie was terrible and it ruined the Dark Universe project that Universal was trying to build.
I’m excited for the new version of The Mummy and I can’t wait to see what Cronin brings to the table! I have a feeling he’ll make Universal jealous.
