    Yolanda Saldívar, the obsessed fan who was imprisoned for the 1995 murder of Tejano superstar Selena, has begun the parole review process, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

    Saldivar, 64, was convicted of Selena’s murder on October 23, 1995, and subsequently sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 30 years. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s website lists her parole review date as March 30, 2025, and notes that the parole review process begins approximately six months before an inmate’s first review date for parole eligibility, with agency parole officers responsible for reviewing inmates for parole. qualifications. However, the relationship soured after Selena and her family accused Saldivar of embezzling funds from Selena’s business and firing her.

    Things ended tragically during a meeting between Selena and Saldivar at the Days Inn in Corpus Christi, Texas, on March 31, 1995, when Saldivar shot Selena in the shoulder with a .38 caliber revolver. , Selena was here at that time. That afternoon, just two weeks shy of her 24th birthday, the singer died from her injuries. Saldivar surrendered after a more than nine-hour standoff with police.
