As When Calls the Heart moves into the 1920s, Rosemary is preparing for her big moment on the Valley Voice Radio Hour.
Rosemary has always been outspoken, but this is new territory for her.
Spoilers for When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 2 hint that the latest comics craze may be part of this storyline.
Additionally, Elizabeth applies children’s passion for comics to learning about nature.
On top of that, Lucas encounters a mysterious visitor that could affect the national park. This looks like another interesting episode.
Rosemary needs a story to debate on her radio show
The main story this week focuses on Rosemary hosting her first radio show, but she’s having a hard time finding an interesting story.
Rosemary has always been committed to doing great things, so she wanted to prove that she could lead her own radio show, too.
The constant media coverage made her nervous because she worried she would be watched by crowds who would see her fail.
In the trailer below, Rosemary sounds desperate but humorous as she complains that the biggest story, a pig that wins the nearby county fair, won’t draw many viewers.
I suspect she discussed comics, as Florence appears in many spoiler photos and has been outspoken about how comics corrupt young minds.
It would be fun because Florence doesn’t get enough air time, and it would be fun because Ned provides comics to kids.
Most adults, except for Elizabeth who doesn’t like them either, seem to be neutral in the comics, so it will be interesting to see what kind of discussion this topic sparks.
No matter what Rosemary chooses, she’s likely to attract a crowd because she’s so good at getting people talking in the first place.
We can’t wait to see how the Valley Voice Radio Hour performs.
Lucas National Park may be in danger
Lucas, Lee, and Edwin working together could be risky, as Edwin only cares about politics and might want Lee gone.
Lee only agrees to accompany Lucas to the capital because he thinks Lucas has changed, but what will happen if Edwin lures Lucas back to his old ways of getting votes?
Edwin is a snake, but he has all these connections. Lucas’s downfall is that he hates making waves, so we worry about someone getting hurt. Hopefully it’s Edwin, not Lee.
Additionally, some people have questions about national parks.
According to the weekly blurb, Edie Martell (Miranda McDougall) shows up at Governor Bouchard’s office to declare that there may be a problem in the national park.
Early on, she inherited her uncle’s ranch and spoiled Lucas by interfering in community policy.
Judging from the promotional video, Edie looks like a savvy businesswoman. She may clash with Lucas at first, but hopefully they both care about helping others and can come to an agreement.
Elizabeth teaches her class the importance of nature
While Lucas worries about national park status, Elizabeth tries to show her class that nature is magical.
Elizabeth was frustrated that her students had become more focused on reading comics and she was unable to teach. So she needed a new way to pique their interest in the course.
As seen in the weekly promo, she takes them exploring the woods, teaching them the importance of beauty and surprise in nature.
We’re not sure what they found, but Elizabeth sounds pretty excited.
It would be great if someone shared their findings with Lucas so he knows that building a national park is worth all the trouble.
The importance of finding your mission
Season 12 of When Calls the Heart is more focused on the younger generation finding their place in life.
This can cause a character like Ellie to feel displaced while her friends know their plans after graduation. She bonded with Oliver because it seemed like no one else was encouraging him.
In the video below, Oliver gets nervous and knocks over vegetables. He seems afraid of upsetting Nathan, but he seems like a good kid.
Is it hard for Oliver to fit in at Hope Valley? Tune in to a new episode of When Calls the Heart on Sunday at 9/8c and watch the following day on @HallmarkPlus. #hatis pic.twitter.com/uLJ4ExsozC

He seems to need to succeed and then he will relax. Hopefully once he spends more time in Hope we’ll understand why he’s so disturbed.
We haven’t seen any official spoilers or photos yet, but we’re hoping that Mike and May will return from their honeymoon in this episode, too. We would be happy to contact them and learn about their next plans.
There aren’t many spoilers for Elizabeth and Nathan this week, so we suspect she’s busy teaching lessons in the fields and helping Rosemary get ready, while Nath helps Oliver get settled.
This episode hints at a more prominent community aspect, which is always fun, especially when kids are involved.
