Have you ever thought that maybe you’re just grumpy about characters on TV?
The Way Home Season 3 Episode 2 just introduced Colton, Del, and Evelyn in the 1970s, and I was immediately drawn to and rooting for Evelyn.
Evie, of all people!
Dawn of Del
To be honest, I’ve never liked Del that much.
She is so cold. We’ve seen her with Colton, and at least some of the time, she seemed a lot warmer. I always attributed her cold demeanor to the tragedy of the nineties.
But now we see her in the 1970s, and she’s no warmer than she is now.
Maybe Colton’s love changed her.
Can Sam’s do the same thing now? This man—and I know many of you question his intentions—had the patience of a saint.
They are sneaky adults like Romeo and Juliet. When Sam asked Del if they could finally be out in public together in six months, she wasn’t ready. Like I said, the patience of a saint.
I’m curious as to why the writing team decided to have Sam and Del express their love for each other, but then tell Sam to get lost.
When Alice inevitably shares what she saw as Del and Colton falling in love in 1974, is it to avoid embarrassment?
I don’t know, but what I’m most looking forward to in Season 3 of All the Way Home is the chance to find out what drives Del and whether she’s grown a lot as a person over the past 50 years.
Alice’s time travel adventure continues
At least I don’t feel alone in my appreciation for Evie. Alice is as obsessed with this twirling blonde as I am.
Alice returns to Wonderland and even sees how the book with a hidden message comes into their lives.
She gained such an incredible education through time travel. Can you imagine meeting your family at different stages of their lives? Even if tragedy occurs, overall it is a joyful experience.
She and Evelyn became good friends. After Rick’s death, will Evelyn still go to Morocco? Now that she sees Colton’s interest in Del, maybe she’ll stay and her friendship with Alice can continue.
I was already looking forward to Alice meeting Evelyn, having known her from the past and therefore feeling differently about her now.
Friendship tricycle fell apart
In high school, Colton, Rick, and Evie were closest friends.
Twenty years later, Evie is the last one left. No wonder she isn’t the most pleasant person. She learned about loss early on when Rick was killed in an accident, and Colton fell deeply in love with Delilah Watson.
Rick made Colton and Evelyn look like they were written in the stars, but it didn’t last as long as the party on the beach.
Evelyn is ready to see the world, but Colton is happy in Port Haven. While she (and Rick) may have thought their future was sealed, all Delilah had to do was walk onto the beach to destroy that idea.
There must be more to the story of Delilah showing up alone in the summer. What happened to her family?
I might have screamed with joy when Evelyn called Delilah a “cold fun killer.” This sounds just like the Del we know!
If I didn’t like Delilah at first glance, it’s that her outfit was incredible.
That’s the style I saw as a kid and I thought, wow, I want to be like her when I grow up. Isn’t it strange how you have changed so much?
Now, I want to be like Evelyn.
I worry about her and how she will react to Rick’s death and Delilah’s loss of Colton. Colton would be upset, but infatuation always makes you forget about the bad things in your life.
Coyle’s — Sticker Mystery Solved!
The teen bar’s owner, a handsome guy named Jasper, used two other wheels to place Coyle’s stickers on Colton’s gift.
Jasper was related to Thomas and told Kate that Thomas ended up in New York and had a large family.
Is this the last we hear from Thomas? It does sound like the writers wanted to put a cap on it, damn.
Yes. I’m a fan of Thomas, which is no surprise since I’m also a fan of Evie. I’ve always been attracted to things that are a little off. Proudly, I think I’m the same.
Kate accepts Elliot’s offer to move in with him, declaring that she just wants them to look out for each other. It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. Correct?
Victor Augustine Past and Present
Vic was slightly angry before walking away from an accident that killed his brother, so how did the experience change him further?
He’s been obsessed with social status for as long as we’ve known him. Did the accident act as a catalyst?
Making breakfast, giving up his coffee habit, and falling in love with a woman named Lola didn’t make him a better man.
Victor uses Elliot as part of his future just to rob his son. Or is he? Did he go to that house with good intentions, but since returning to the house that caused him so much pain, has he fallen back into his old patterns?
Vic momentarily praises the past and Elliot’s mom, but I don’t remember Elliot’s childhood being any happy except with the Landrys.
I hate that he’s disappointed in his father again.
Jacob is not used to it now
Will Jacob remain in the present, or will he be pulled back into the past, despite danger lurking around every corner?
How do I find my footing when you are my foundation?
——Jacob (to Elijah)
As a child, Jacob remembers visiting the tombs of Elijah and Rebecca with Colton. When Jacob looks back on that moment, he remembers Colton talking about Elijah as if he knew him. How long did it take for Jacob to realize that his father was also a traveler?
Jacob was indeed torn between the past and the present. Although he strives to be the son Del considers him to be, his heart is in the past, with the people he grew up with – his “father” Elijah and others.
When Del compares adult Jacob to a nine-year-old, she doesn’t make it any easier for him. How much can you once Do you know who your children will be when they grow up?
You’d think she’d be happy to have him back, but maybe that’s why she barely showed any emotion in All the Way Home Season 3 Episode 1 – Del really doesn’t know how to be happy.
Instead of counting her blessings or being excited that her son was in her life again, she wondered who he would be if she raised him.
Thankfully, the person he became wanted to embrace the present. Like Del, he wants to know who he is now. It won’t be an easy road, but the best stories never have an easy road.
book launch
The release of this book felt anticlimactic compared to the rest of it, and I’m not sure if that’s because I loved the time travel aspect and the 1974 time frame so much, or if it really was just underwhelming.
I prefer the latter. After diving into the timeline of the 1800s, that door suddenly closed on us. Now that I think about it, this is exactly how Jacob felt.
If fans of All the Way Home were devastated by the sudden disappearance of our beloved character, how must Jacob be feeling?
The people we met on the way home didn’t disappear, so it was a new feeling. Show your fans some grace as they sift through it.
The launch brought Louis Goodwin to town, bringing news about his vineyard and anger that Suzanne’s published chapters had rewritten his family’s history. Every time one chapter closes, another opens!
I think Colton’s pond moment was a misdirection
Yes, Alice finds Colton struggling in the pond, but I think that’s a misdirection at this point.
As much as I would love for the two of them to have an off-the-cuff discussion about time travel, I think we’ll have to wait a while yet.
We don’t know much about Colton right now, and the more relevant part of Alice’s journey into the past seems to be rediscovering her love of music.
She returns to Port Haven with new ideas for the future that put music in the rearview mirror, but knowing Colton is so close to a greater goal will reinvigorate her and point her in the right direction once again direction.
There’s no doubt we’ll see Colton use the pond at some point, but it’s still early days. Maybe as the season progresses.
my screen childhood
I grew up in the 1970s, so this decade was my peak.
The set design here is interesting and their use of music is perfect. They couldn’t have chosen a song that embodied the early ’70s more than “Summer Breeze,” the song Colton and Evie sang that gave me the chills.
The prospect of spending more time getting to know Colton, Del and Evelyn in 1974 couldn’t be more exciting!
Season 3 of “The Way Home” is off to a strong start, so we’d better buckle up. If the first two seasons are any indication, we don’t know what’s going to happen next. Even though the present is the future, the past still holds many secrets.
What do you think of “The Way We Were”? Did you see any clues that added to the whole mystery? You’ve made it this far. Why not leave a comment below and share your thoughts? I’d love to hear from you.
