Teddy Swims and Giveon’s soulful collaboration “Are You Even Real” is the winner of this week’s new music poll, which features artists from a variety of genres.
The song was voted the best new album by music fans in a poll released on Friday (January 10). advertising billboard.
“Are You Even Real” received nearly 34% of the vote, beating out other new albums such as Wallows’ “Your New Favorite Song,” Jade’s “IT Girl” and Lil Baby’s “IT Girl” Weiheim (Extended Edition) and “Can a Heart Take” by Warren Zeiders.
Swims, who is having a stellar 2024 with the Billboard Hot 100-topping single “Lose Control,” teamed up with Giveon to create the bouncy soul-pop song that serves as a preview of Swims’ upcoming album, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy, Part 2scheduled to be released on January 24th.
The song blends Swims’ heartfelt vocals with Giveon’s signature deep tones, creating rich contrasts in the tight harmonies of the song’s second half.
The poll win comes with exciting personal news for Swims: He and his partner, fellow musician Raiche Wright, recently announced they are expecting their first child. Wright shared the good news on Instagram on January 8, posting a series of photos from a beach outing that showed off her growing baby bump. The couple went public with their relationship in early 2024, and Wright has also appeared on stage with Swims for a duet tour.
In second place was “Your Favorite New Song” by Volos, which received 25% of the votes. The dreamy pop-rock song promises to be a hit for the Los Angeles trio, who have built a loyal fan base through extensive touring in recent years.
