I have always been established It’s been one of my favorite shows every week since the series first started, keeping me coming back to the network routine, but this episode marks my first review for the show!
established Continuing to deliver intricate, emotionally rich storytelling, “Missing Target” takes things to an even higher level. The show strikes a good balance between the main plot and character development. While the mystery itself is intriguing, it’s the growing tension between the characters and their personal challenges that really drives the episode. “Missing Target” highlights the show’s ability to blend intense drama with thrilling moments that keep both plot and characters tense.

The episode begins with a lot of tension. As Gabi ran through the school, she heard Sir’s voice coming over the intercom. He had been waiting for Trent, not Gabi, and used the moment to trick her into confronting him. By jamming the communication system, Jazz forces Gabi to fight. His ability to control people, especially Gabi, is disturbing. His manipulative tactics create a creepy atmosphere that shows just how dangerous he really is.
Meanwhile, the team gathers to sing karaoke, which turns into a therapy session. It’s great to see the characters drop their professional roles and talk about their fears and doubts. Lacey, in particular, isn’t sure she wants to go back to school after everything that’s happened recently. She also feels the pressure of leading a team. Zeke is still haunted by his stolen gear, while Dan and Ethan’s relationship is facing a thorny issue as Ethan moves to a new location.
The transition from personal drama to the case at hand is seamless. When a woman walks into their office, Lacey takes over in Gabby’s absence. She is desperate to find her missing husband Ian. Ian was a drug addict and now seems to have disappeared. Even though Gabby wasn’t there, Lacey assured her that she would do whatever it took to find her husband. This moment is a quiet but pivotal reflection of Lacey’s growth – despite her own uncertainty, she steps into this role with a sense of responsibility.

As the investigation into Ian’s disappearance unfolds, things get darker. The team discovers that Ian has been hiding drugs at home, and they soon discover that he’s involved in luggage theft at the airport. Under Zeke’s tutelage, Lacey also displays impressive resourcefulness as she learns to hack into computer systems to gain greater insight into Ian’s life. Watching Lacey grow more confident in her skills as she works the case is a rewarding development, especially given her prior uncertainty.
While investigating, tensions between Gabby and Jazz become apparent, and the two eventually engage in a violent confrontation. Mr. Always One Step Ahead revealed that he knew Trent was intercepting messages, but to his surprise, Gabby showed up. He mocks Gabi, suggesting that Trent isn’t as infallible as Gabi thinks. As Gabby tries to stay calm, Jazz’s words seem to have a lasting impact on her, especially since she’s already grappling with complicated relationships with those closest to her. Their exchange perfectly captures Jazz’s manipulative nature and leads to an emotionally charged sequence in which Gabby is knocked unconscious by one of his colleagues.

After Trent finds Gabby and takes her to the hospital, they discuss Sir and Gabby tells Trent that his presence at Zeke’s house is disturbing. Trent remains as concerned about Gabi as ever, even as he begins to grow increasingly frustrated with Gabi’s relationship with Jazz. Their dynamic develops throughout the episode – there’s clear affection between them, but there’s also ongoing tension over the lies. Trent’s concern for Gabi’s safety borders on obsession, and when he accuses her of negotiating with Jazz or risking endangering the team, and even threatening to arrest her and take her in, it’s clear that their relationship is unraveling.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues to make progress and the team discovers a threatening text message from a man named Jimmy, who may be involved in Ian’s disappearance. However, the case takes another turn when Jimmy is proven to have an airtight alibi. The team scrambles to piece together motives and suspicions, but their every move is clouded by the feeling of being watched and manipulated by Jazz. As the team races to uncover the truth, Gabby becomes increasingly determined to solve the case. She insists that Ian’s case must be solved quickly because his time is running out – yet another heartbreaking reminder that Gabby knows how short life is for those caught up in addiction and danger.

There was an emotional moment when Lacey broke down in front of Gabi, admitting that she wasn’t ready to let Gabi leave the team. It’s a vulnerable moment for Lacey that reveals the deep connection between the two characters. Lacey’s fear of being left behind adds emotional complexity to an already high-stakes investigative atmosphere. In a flashback, we see young Lacey awaken to find Jazz standing ominously next to her, a haunting memory she shares with Gabby. This flashback heightens Lacey’s sense of fear about Jazz’s continued presence in their lives.
The real shocker comes when Gabby discovers that Ian has been in police custody and seeking protection due to his involvement in a high-profile court case. The fact that Trent has been keeping this secret from Ian to ensure his safety is a major revelation that challenges Gabby’s assumptions about Trent’s behavior. The tension between Gabi and Trent reaches a boiling point when Gabi angrily confronts Trent about his lies, exposing the gulf of distrust that has developed between them.

The next day, the team goes to court to hear the case, but a shooting occurs and Dan is shot! Ethan asked Gabi to leave and she did. While at the office, Gabby called Trent and said she thought Mister moved around a lot in his RV and that’s why they could never find him.
It turns out that Sir is at Trent’s house. He exposed things about Trent’s father and asked Trent to drop the charges against Gabi or risk his father being exposed. All the tension, manipulation and lies come to a head, leading to a shocking moment: gunshots ring out and the screen fades to black as Gabi arrives at her door.
