Just weeks after Scorpions drummer Mikkey Dee detailed his near-death experience after being diagnosed with sepsis, the band has decided to postpone its upcoming Las Vegas residency.
The residency was originally scheduled to launch on February 28 and run until March 11 as part of the German band’s 60th anniversary celebrations. The band, who performed at PH Live at Planet Hollywood with support from Buckcherry, announced their new dates on social media late last week.
“We regret to inform you that as Mikkey Dee is still recovering from his recent hospitalization, we have decided to postpone our Las Vegas residency return tour to August 2025,” they wrote. “In the interests of our brother’s health and Wellbeing is paramount. We wish Mikkey a speedy recovery and look forward to rocking out with you all again soon!”
On the new dates, The Scorpions will perform in Las Vegas from August 14th to 23rd, and all previous tickets will be valid for the new dates. The band still plans to return to the stage in March, with a performance in Mexico City on March 15.
Dee first detailed his health issues in early January, revealing he was hospitalized with a “very serious” blood infection. He later elaborated on the health scare in an interview with a Swedish publication Evening Newsexplained that what started as a simple sprain quickly turned into something more serious over the weekend before Christmas.
“The ankle swelled really bad and then took on a strange shape and appearance, like an overcooked ham,” Dee said. “I was very ill, so I had to take an ambulance to Sahlgrenska, where they found that I had extremely high values, so I became a priority there.
“Surgery came right away, the first of three. They cut out the dead, infected and badly infected stuff. It was not a good journey for me… One day, I’ll be in heaven playing drums with Lemmy, I can say that.
Somewhat coincidentally, his near-death experience occurred nearly nine years to the day after the death of his Motörhead bandmate Lemmy Kilmister on December 28, 2015.
Dee has been performing with Scorpions since early 2016 and joined the band following Motörhead’s premature breakup at the end of 2016. percussion rock believer.
