2023 movies Queen Mary’s Haunting It’s a confusing mess. Parallel storylines that mirror the current action leave a lot of holes to fill. There are some good moments, but not enough to quantify the nearly two hours of watching this movie.
story?
Apparently, several gruesome murders occurred on ocean liners. The Queen Mary, a true ocean liner, barely survived rough seas and returned to life as a tourist attraction in Long Beach, California, USA.
*In real life: This stately ship was converted into a hotel. According to travelandleisure.com, this is one of the most haunted places in the United States. *
There are two stories here. In this 1938 horror drama, Fred Astaire (real-life tramp and movie star) dances and brutally murders multiple passengers on the Queen Mary.
In a parallel story, Anne Calder and her nuclear family investigate paranormal activity on a cruise ship/hotel. On the haunted tour, Patrick takes his son Lucas along, which becomes a disturbing event when Lucas disappears.
The stories are intertwined and in some ways mirror each other’s timelines.

too much
There is too much going on here to be easily understood. There are also too many “fake” accents. Dodgy accent aside, Queen Mary’s Haunting Aims to be a great ghost movie.
They borrowed a lot from the 2002 horror movie ghost ship. *But to be fair, they only used Trapped Spirit’s template.
One of the film’s highlights is Jackie Luckey dancing with Fred Astaire (played by Wesley Alvin), while Ginger Rogers (played by Madison Nicholson) and Victor ( Angus Wright) looks confused.
There’s a lot going on here, and it’s not easy to understand. There are more questions than answers. Why did Lucky’s dad lose his temper and murder so many people? Why was son Patrick’s dwarfism never resolved? Where exactly does Buettner fit into this whole mess?
How does Alice know that Lucas was taken over by Jackie on the ship? Never
Some bits do work
There’s an arm sticking out of the phone, it’s really scary. To be fair, this is just a carbon copy of the Grudge movie. *In the second film made in Japan, a head sticks out of the floor. I know this is a spoiler, but The Grudge 2 did come out in 2003.
While the scary parts are certainly scary, they lack originality. Director and co-writer Gary Shore borrows heavily from other horror films that have come before it.
Overall, Queen Mary’s Haunting Entertaining but it’s a mind-bending mess. There are too many things to follow. Although it must be said that Astaire’s dance sequence with Jackie (her dance, performed by no less than three “stunt dancers”, is brilliant and worth the price of admission in itself.), if not too distracting Very exciting.
judgment
this Queen Mary’s Haunting It barely got a dazzling 3 stars. If it weren’t for that dance sequence, it would have been a 2.5. The film is now streaming on Hulu.
