ABC renews ‘High Potential’ for second season
ABC has renewed its groundbreaking new crime drama High Potential for an early second season. The procedural drama starring Kaitlin Olson joins ABC’s flagship comedy “Abbott Elementary” in the network’s 2025-26 slate. “High Potential” also joined other freshman dramas in the 2024-25 season, including CBS’s “Matlock,” which was renewed for a second season ahead of schedule. Both shows were originally ordered last season but were delayed due to the strike.
The size of the order for the second season of “High Potential” is yet to be determined, but it is expected to be larger than the first season (a total of 13 episodes). Due to the show’s atypical production schedule and Olsen’s other series regular duties on FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, filming on the first season had to end after the initial 13-episode order.
In “High Potential,” Olsen plays Morgan, a single mother with an IQ of 160 who works as a cleaning lady for the Los Angeles Police Department and later becomes a consultant for the LAPD’s Major Crimes Unit.
The show’s cast also includes Daniel Sunjata as Karadek, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdir, Amira J., Matthew Lamb as Elliot, and Judy Reyes as Selina.
Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles and showrunner Todd Hasson serve as executive producers, with Olson serving as showrunner. TV station No. 20 is a studio.
