Will Trent was outstanding, in part due to the team’s energy, which ultimately returned in rare form.
Will Trent Season 3 Episode 3 showed how much we missed Will and Faith’s banter as they worked together on Will’s first case: a poisoning and murder at a family company.
When Angie plays Nancy Drew at the Waldorf Astoria, she turns to Michael for help and he recruits Franklin as the APD stands united.
We haven’t seen much of Angie yet, and this is a chance to see how much she’s changed.
Angie keeps discovering domestic violence cases and she can’t turn them down
Poor Angie. She always found an injured bird in need of help. This time, literally. No one expected the murder at the Waldorf Astoria to be a male swan.
Angie felt trapped there like a swan. As she talks to a perky little girl who has a black eye and sees her Aunt Alma, Angie’s radar lights up.
Things get worse when she finds a finger in the swan’s mouth and wants to know more, so she seeks Michael’s help.
Michael: She asked me to do her a favor, so we did her a favor. You might say we’re helping her.
Franklin: That’s too bad.
Michael rejoined and recruited Franklin and Pete, and it was so cute to see these guys video chatting with Angie and supporting her.
The problem was, they couldn’t find anything except that the finger belonged to a middle-aged man and had chicken poop on it.
This was enough for Angie to pry further and learn that Alma’s husband, Davis, owned a farm. Davis then tried to shoo Amma away and stopped talking to Angie. Talk about fishy things.
Angie learned to send out distress signals
Although Angie is still in danger, she has learned from her past and knows how to send a distress signal to Michael. I’ve always enjoyed their friendship, but “Finding a New Pond” solidified the depth of that connection.
Michael knows how reckless Angie is and how close she is to being reinstated, so he warns her to be careful and do it for him. These two took over my heart even more.
When Pete matched the DNA to a handyman who worked at the Waldorf Astoria, he immediately called her. John raped and murdered a teenager.
I loved how Angie casually mentioned that she was locked in the shed with him, not wanting to alert John, but warning Michael at the same time.
Of course, the story doesn’t end there. Although John was a pain in the ass, he wasn’t the one who abused Alma, and he witnessed Davis abusing her, so Angie was still at war.
I love Angie, but going to Davis’ farm without backup is foolhardy. She could have died or killed another person in self-defense, so what would have happened to her job?
Luckily, she sent Michael a photo of her location before Davis found her. Angie is a badass and she chooses to use a frying pan as a weapon.
She stood her ground in the battle against her abuser. She wouldn’t let others succeed again, and this time she did the right thing – tied his wrists and waited for others to formally arrest him.
I’m relieved that Angie is back on the force because I missed her, but I don’t think she’s going to follow the rules in the end.
She’s overly enthusiastic about her victims, but at least she stands up for herself. I think having Michael around also helps.
The complexities of dealing with family at work
Will, Faith, and Amanda have been like a “found family” in their own way since the series began. Amanda and Faith had fun listening to Nico yell at Will. They probably agree that he abandoned his friends and family, so he needs to hear these hard truths.
Amanda’s situation is also difficult. She had never raised a child before, so she ended up having to listen to Faith instead of giving her advice.
Faith had to suck it up when Amanda came to her and found her a new apartment without an offer. The only problem was that someone died there, but that didn’t affect Faith the way it did the other interested parties.
Watching the team joke with each other reignited some much needed humor. Will was a fashionista and although we miss the scruffy Will, this place felt like home.
Family businesses are always complicated, and that’s evident in the Solvano family. During a board meeting, two siblings and one of their assistants were poisoned.
As Will and Faith begin interviewing the brothers, it becomes clear why they disdain dealing with wealthy, powerful people. The middle brother, Rocco, tests Faith’s patience as he comes to the conclusion that there is always someone threatening them.
When the GBI contacted Francesca, her attorney wouldn’t let her speak, which seemed suspicious. Most families hide secrets, but the Sovannos have the potential to ruin lives.
Will once again adds some fun to the case when he decides to recast the cast and asks Caroline, Franklin, and Michael to assist him. It was so hilarious to see them all wearing masks as they put the pieces together.
Whoever did it, he didn’t intentionally make Sophia drink poisonous grapefruit juice; She is collateral damage.
I’ve never seen Faith so upset about accidentally blaming Olivia.
She fears she will still be charged because she is not as wealthy as the Solvano family. Faith knew that both she and Will understood that they didn’t have the resources to fight for themselves.
She’s felt the same way ever since Francesca and Rocco had a nasty fight with her defense Oliva in the middle of GBI. Will sensed she knew something but was hesitant to air the dirty laundry.
Will: Sometimes loving people means holding them accountable for the things they destroy.
Sadly, Will learned this the hard way. We didn’t expect Marcello to go on to clean up his brother’s mess, including the murder.
When Jacinta threatens to reveal Rocco’s past, Marcello does it again. He didn’t expect their sister to die too. It would be a heavy price to pay for protecting a sibling.
Nico is torn between Will and Angie
Of course, Will thinks everything will go back to normal once he moves back to Atlanta, but Nico still acts cold to him. Plus, Betty likes Will’s stuff even more than before.
While Faith suggested it was dog-like behavior, Nico’s assessment wasn’t far off.
Betty probably misses Will. She had gotten used to working on cases with him in Tennessee and spending more time with him.
Now that business is back on, Betty and Nico feel neglected.
Will: You know I’m loyal to that dog and to you.
Because Nicole and Will are so close, we sometimes forget that Angie first met her and introduced her to Betty and Will. That’s why it makes so much sense for Nico to take Betty to work to visit Angie.
Although Nico was angry with Will, she sensed that Will was sad and tried to reconcile the two.
There’s so much luggage, though, that it looks like Will and Angie will have to share Nico and Betty.
We’ve seen couples have custody of dogs, and while Betty is ultimately Will’s dog, Angie also develops a bond with her. Will also doesn’t seem to want to admit that he misses Angie.
Over to you, Will Trent fanatic. Are you excited to see the team back together? Would you like to see Angie back on the force?
