review:
The episode begins with Nolan seeking Tim’s help in assessing vulnerabilities in his newly installed home security system. After Nolan takes a nap, he is awakened by the sound of Tim opening a beer – he bypasses the system with ease. Nolan’s frustration is tempered by amusement when he realizes how easily Tim accomplished what he calls a state-of-the-art setup.
Meanwhile, Wesley and Angela’s day gets off to a chaotic start. Wesley is still haunted by tapes that seem to have significant personal value.
Nolan’s investigation takes a turn when a detective informs him that they have arrested Daniel, a suspect in connection with the double murder. The suspect had ties to the Southern Front and had been close to Jason. Despite the warnings of his colleagues, Nolan still took matters into his own hands and secretly tried to obtain information about Jason’s whereabouts from Daniel. However, his interrogation was fruitless as Daniel remained tight-lipped.

The episode was also punctuated by some lighter, more comedic moments, as Tim and Lucy, who had been betting on the rookie’s progress, were called into Gray’s office. Gray ordered them to stop betting and replace rookies to enforce the rules. This setup creates an interesting dynamic, with Tim and Lucy working with their new companions while trying to deal with the consequences of their actions. Tim quickly realizes that Lucy warns Seth “I’ve been shot!” The rookies’ reactions to the situation bring some much-needed humor during the test. Meanwhile, Lucy has an awkward moment with Miles when he calls her “honey,” but she quickly puts a stop to it.
Newbies spring into action when responding to a hostage situation. Initially, they thought they had the suspect cornered, but it turned out to be a decoy and the real criminal slipped away on a motorcycle. A high-speed chase ensues, in which the rookies inadvertently enter the suspect’s home, escalating the situation and now increasing the number of hostages from one to three. While Tim and Lucy try to control the situation from the outside, the rookies take matters into their own hands and show initiative in apprehending the suspects, even though their actions put everyone in danger.
Back at the station, Nolan asks Wesley for advice on how to get Daniel to open up about Jason. Wesley advises against pushing too hard, but he makes a suggestion: Maybe there is someone close to Daniel who can influence him. When Daniel’s mother tells Nolan that her son refused to talk but did give her an important message, Nolan intensifies his search for answers: The Southern Front is hunting Jason and has hired a man named El. Malvado’s killers come to get rid of him. Unwilling to let Jason’s fate be decided by someone like Malvado, Nolan decided to continue his pursuit of justice.
As the investigation heats up, the rookies face the consequences of their previous actions. They feared they would be fired after their behavior spiraled out of control, but Gray, while frustrated, told them they couldn’t afford to fire them. Their popularity on social media makes them too valuable, but they are warned they are treading on thin ice. As part of their punishment, the rookies were asked to write the “I won’t go gangster” mantra, although their futures remained uncertain.
The episode also highlights the growing tension in the characters’ personal lives. Lucy, Rachel and Selina have an emotional conversation on the couch and look back on the past. Rachel, who once dated Tim, admitted she thought Tim and Lucy were a better match, although she was surprised they split. Lucy, for her part, expressed her desire to focus on her career rather than romantic entanglements, indicating her desire to move on. Meanwhile, an unpleasant dinner with Angela, Wesley, Nila, and James exposes the rift between James and the others, particularly over his views on systemic injustice. Nyla finally breaks out, urging James to understand that they’re all doing their best, providing the team with a much-needed moment of catharsis.

As Nolan digs deeper into the investigation, he takes the dangerous step of following El Malvado’s lead. After tracking a car with a killer tied up, Nolan confronts Malvado in a tense scene. Faced with the dilemma of saving a potential victim or capturing Malvado, Nolan chooses to save the target man’s life. The decision allowed the killer to escape, but Nolan’s determination to bring Malvado to justice remains steadfast. At the same time, the team discovers that he is missing. As Nolan’s personal obsession with Jason and the threat from El Malvado escalates, the team must find him quickly before it’s too late.
The episode ends with Bailey returning home and Nolan unable to disable the complex system he set up!
idea:
The consistency continues this season. Each episode is solid and makes me even more excited for the next one. So far, there doesn’t seem to be any lull. The tension built in tonight’s episode was strong, especially Nolan’s obsession with Jason. It’s no longer just about the case; You can feel his desperation and his refusal to let go, even as everyone around him urges him to be careful. His struggles are palpable and it’s hard not to get caught up in them.
Then there are the rookies. They’re still figuring it out, but watching them improve, even when they mess up, gives me hope for them. They have come a long way and I can see them growing right before our eyes. How do they handle a hostage situation? It was a mess, but it was also a win for them. That makes me proud, even if they were just one bad move away from disaster.
Every episode so far has kept me on the edge of my seat and I really want to see where these characters go next. The story has no ups and downs – just one crazy ride after another.

Character of the week: John Nolan
Now, admittedly, Nolan’s personal plotlines have turned me off a bit over the years, and I prefer his interactions with the team rather than running alone, but this episode kept me interested. Nolan’s paranoia really comes to the fore before Bailey returns, determined to find Jason. It makes him reckless and a little foolish at times, but his desperation keeps me on the edge of my seat. Ultimately, he stood up for his morals and prioritized saving a man’s life over gaining information about Jason.
Forgetting your wife’s birthday, though…that’s too low.
Best ships of the week: rachel and lucy
This week’s relationship choice isn’t about romance, it’s about friendship! Rachel hasn’t appeared on the show since season two, but she makes her grand return in this episode. While some teased that this might be an obstacle for Chenford, the reality seems to be moving in the opposite direction. Rachel and Lucy reconnect without hesitation, despite the former having been away for six months. They talk about Tim, and Rachel admits that Tim and Lucy are a better match and expresses her shock at their breakup. There’s nothing weird about Tim when it comes to their friendship. Rachel even tried to reconcile with Tim because of Lucy. As Selina says, “Brothers come before hoes”!
It feels unusual in television for two exes to get along so well without any drama. How cool!
