After our episode was rudely interrupted by the President’s speech, we’re back with Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 10.
So, is it worth the wait? We’ll discuss this later. First of all, if we have sponsors, so to speak.
As the episode ends, we’re on the cusp of an epic Chicago crossover. Whether you love them or hate them, the next episode comes at a special time and will be the first such crossover since 2019.
Yes, the next episode of Chicago Fire is airing at 8/7c, so be sure to do what you need to do so you don’t miss it. If anything that happens prompts you to go to Chicago Med and the Chicago Police Department, then that’s good for all of us!
Yeah, yeah, but what about “chaos theory”? I’m glad you asked. Let’s dig a little deeper.
Do we still have a Cruz problem?
Cruz decided not to call 9-1-1 and instead called Leon, who gave him the unreasonable advice to go home and pretend nothing happened. Dear Hades, How come people keep recommending the wrong things? Did we learn nothing?
Cruz has a new name for neurosis. He nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard laughter.
I don’t know how he put Flaco’s death behind him for over a decade, but now that he’s been activated again by Junior’s death, he has to make things right, not for Flaco or His family, but for Cruz and his family.
The timing of him being called in to talk about Flacco’s death would have left me breathless. But it’s good that Pascal asked the right question: Why are Flacco’s family just coming forward now, when it’s been 12 years?
Cruz should have come out at that time, but he chose to remain silent. To make matters worse, Leon knew Junior was about to be released from prison but didn’t tell Cruz. This is what you get when you stay silent. A lot of trouble.
Cruz finally did the right thing and went to Seyfried, but only after Pascal had already asked him to conduct a full arson investigation. Thankfully, this decision should change the outcome of this story.
By asking Seyfried to investigate, Pascal made sure the entire story was known before Cruz called the police.
There’s no way he knew this, but it’s nice to think that maybe that’s why he assigned it in the first place.
Didn’t Pascal just get pissed off about Seyfried’s arson investigation in Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 9? Maybe he means it when he says he wants to leverage Seyfried’s skills in the field.
But even using science to clear Cruz’s name wouldn’t be enough to save him. He knows that Flacco’s death was not his fault, but he remains determined to have a clear conscience. Maybe “determination” is not the right word.
When Atwater, of the Chicago Police Department, brought Cruz up, he hesitated at the door. By the end, Cruz was out of his element. He was telling the whole truth and nothing more, so no charges would be brought against him.
Sometimes accusations are the least of your worries because what’s going on inside your mind can be much more damaging.
Time will tell whether Cruz can erase this from his mind, but Pascal admitted his guilt and was respected even though he knew he was innocent.
He has two weeks to consider the suspension. I wonder if he’ll be in the crossover event. This arc ended much earlier than I expected. And you?
Did Pascal’s appearance in this story affect your opinion of him? I hope he can stay.
Superman and Daredevil
Did Violet really offer her ex-boyfriend’s services to her new boyfriend? Really?
Not surprisingly, Flynn tapped Carver twice on the shoulder while giving him some advice he didn’t ask for. I mean, it’s nice of him to offer this, but it feels very condescending.
Will Violet discover that her new boyfriend isn’t as good as she thought?
Or am I projecting my feelings for Violet and Carver onto poor Flynn (Steven Straight, who I also adore…and who else saw him in 2005’s Sing in the movie “Undiscovered” or fall in love with him in the tragic miniseries “Magic City”?
Judging from how things turned out, it seems unlikely that Violet is truly satisfied with Flynn. She and Carver still seem to be on crossed paths, and they will cross again, maybe forever.
This makes it harder to connect with other people they date because you don’t want it to last.
When Carver drops the manhole cover and goes into Superman mode, the look on Violet’s face says I’m not far off. She even calls him Superman!
But Flynn retorted, giving himself the nickname “Daredevil,” which was a good response. Maybe he’s a keeper.
Street was a pretty good guest star, so maybe he was around longer than I expected. What are your thoughts on Violet and the two men in her life? Should she stay with Carver or just play with Flynn (see what I did there?)?
Can Herman really be the chief?
Herman had just been promoted to captain, and now he was considering a promotion to captain. Is Dom Pascal a strong character who will step aside to allow Herman (or Mouch) to take over?
Please tell me no one is actually testing tear gas and pepper spray within city limits.
At least Herman was as outraged as I was. But his anger is another clue that Herman likes to be active, and sitting behind a desk would kill him.
But where did he get the idea that chief is just a desk job? Pascal and Borden before him sat behind the desk, just as Hermann sat at the kitchen table with nothing to do.
As Ritter’s “perfect passenger” story and rideshare ratings illustrate, Herman was either always going to be the minority or always expected to be the minority. That’s not what you want from the Chief.
Stella returns
Finally, Stella and Severide greeted each other warmly again. Many times, they are saying goodbye. It’s a nice change of pace.
She helps a teacher named Amy find her place in the world again after a close call, which is also sweet. Her stories have mostly been about other people lately, and I’m eager to see her get her own storyline again.
That’s all we have now.
Dare I say, this season is a bit quiet. I’m not sure why this is, so maybe you can figure it out. All I know is that I’m not excited about the future. Indeed.
