Why I’m worried about the equalizer after Season 5 will be cancelled

Equalizer has been one of my favorite TV shows since its premiere in 2021.

Now, in the fifth season, Queen Latif’s drama has fallen into a bubble of renewal and I don’t think the odds are good for that.

The series didn’t run the best on CBS, and the network went from evictions countless times, so it was difficult to keep investing.

Worse, the equalizer was recently driven to the 10/9C slot to keep Watson empty.

The show was wasted during such late periods, as viewers who wished their action repair were used to watching early.

As a result, the mid-season premiere early this month only received 3.7 million viewers, with an adult rating of 0.23 for 18-49.

It’s the average of over a million viewers on the Equalizer Season 5, showing that Watson’s decision hurts the once-heavy drama.

Equalizer may recover lost linear audience

The only benefit is that the viewing after the air should be higher than usual, but we need to wait for some numbers to evaluate whether fans will actually stick to the show.

Despite some of the best episodes this season, I’m still trying to keep up because it’s hard to tell if the new episode will last more than a few weeks.

Meanwhile, Dante returns to town to visit his father, Mel makes a breakthrough in the original CBS series EQ and streams on Paramount+ (play time subscribers or Paramount+ demand, or the demand for Paramount + basic subscribers the day after the episode airs). The Equalizer also missed an early renewal from last week, which inspired me to worry about the issue that it could specify cancellation.

In recent years, CBS has been relentless, with shows like Blue Blood and NCIS: Hawaii is getting a pink slide when fans least expect it.

Of course, the numbers for both shows are higher than the equalizer.

When the series missed the renewal, the deadline had said that the upcoming ending was as a season and series finale.

    (Michael Greenberg/CBS)

One way to determine that the legacy of a long-term drama is to end it on a cliff, and so the decision may be due to a lack of confidence in the collection of CBS.

That said, when it mentioned the possibility of a sixth and final season renewal, the media did give me a little hope.

I don’t want the show to end, but the last pre-planned cheer would mitigate the blow.

CBS recently confirmed a potential equalizer derivative backdoor pilot, which is a bit shocking because the network has never treated mothers well.

    (Michael Greenberg/CBS)

CBS has been actively pursuing spin-offs from many of its programs as cost-cutting measures.

I don’t think we need to discuss the financial aspects of things because obviously, theoretically, it can keep the franchise alive, but there are no many key elements.

Equalizer derivatives without Queen Latifa would be terrible

Queen Latifah is so powerful on the show that no spin-off without her will be able to launch.

Robyn McCall’s presence improves the equalizer, and I doubt there is no investment she puts in in some capacity.

    (Michael Greenberg/CBS)

Very few of a whole show can be done, and there are things that tell me that CBS didn’t know a good thing before losing it.

The decision about the EQ future may be delayed for a while, as Skydance may soon control Paramount Global.

We can only wait and hope the series will be renewed in Season 6.

What do you think about how CBS handles equalizers?

Do you think it should be guaranteed a renewal, or are you happy with the season finale as the series finale?
