I can’t think of anything more tragic than “Law and Order: SVU Season 26” Episode 14.
The victim is fulfilling her dream of visiting New York City, just to make someone turn it into a nightmare, and then the defense attorney continues to torture her.
This emotional plot finally gives us everything about law and order: SVU should be, providing an almost perfect story from beginning to end.
Law and Order: SVU Season 26 Episode 14 Opens in the Right Way
If you’ve been following my comments, you’ll know how much I hate the new version of Cold opening.
Most episodes of Law and Order: SVU insists on taking part in a new show starring this week’s victims, with their life stories and detailed crimes.
Thankfully, this time we survived the overstretched opening sequence.
Law and Order: SVU Season 26 Episode 14 provides enough information to indicate who the victim is and set up the case.
Here’s how to do this. We don’t need Megan’s game-by-game game throughout the holidays.
We only need three scenes: Megan deals with a creepy couple in Times Square, quickly and quickly filming how much she enjoys before the attack, while police arrive at the scene.
Having a proper cold opening at a time is a relief.
This did not give up on the whole story.
We are not sure what happened when Megan was accompanied by a defense attorney on the witness stand and that’s what it should be.
Hopefully we won’t be back to the super and annoying chill when SVU returns on March 13.
But, for the moment, this is a good job.
All Defenders Are on Law & Order: SVU Season 26 Episode 14 is a Character Attack
When a rape case is on trial, a defense attorney often relentlessly attempts to discredit the victim by appearing to have sex with a client (or she brings the rape to herself).
This particular defense attorney is evil.
She repeated the metaphor about Megan’s long-term torture after drinking a few drinks, which meant she wanted to have sex with a stranger.
What year is this? In 2025, we should not only know that a drunk woman won’t rape her fault, but it doesn’t matter whether she currently agrees if she gets drunk and the attacker is sober.
If she was so drunk that she was supposedly lost her bondage and came to the rapist, she was so drunk that there was nothing she could do. That’s still rape – why no one raised it?
Megan is telling the truth, but her behavior doesn’t help her
Law and Order: One area that SVU often shows shows that trauma can almost make survivors pay for cases.
Many survivors are unreliable witnesses because their trauma makes it difficult for them to remember exactly what happened or share in a coherent and linear way.
Some survivors change their stories multiple times, while others may have conflicting attitudes toward reporting.
Unfortunately, the court system does not understand much about trauma, and seemingly strange or inconsistent behaviors can be lying or unstable.
Megan learned that this was a difficult way to her case.
She doesn’t think the police would really catch the raping her and conduct parallel investigations, in trouble.
The rapist who beat her made her look unstable, and Benson refused to arrest her, which seemed to have received special treatment.
The defense may be much more than Meghan’s behavior.
What it did was bad enough to not suggest Meghan had serious mental health problems that prevented her from being taken seriously.
The national defense strategy cannot be legal…is it OK?
The defense is locked on Meghan’s diagnosis and the fact that she didn’t tell her husband to prove she was lying, which is overall.
But how did that lawyer get this information?
Health information should be private. Accessing someone’s health records without permission is a serious violation of the law.
However, the only sanctions faced by the attorneys raised by the record were Carisi’s objection, and the judge’s warning to the defense attorney should not go too far.
I hope to prefer some consequences from the decision of defense attorneys to illegally access the health records of Law & Order: SVU Season 26 Episode 14, episode 14, but only too much time in the hour.
It’s hard to sympathize with Meghan’s husband
Megan’s husband learns what happened to his wife, and soon after he discovers that she hasn’t told him there is a lady.
His world was reversed like her, so his behavior should be understandable. Despite this, it is difficult to fully sympathize with him.
His wife went through a horrible ordeal, but he was young enough to complain about not knowing the real reason why she insisted on going to New York now.
Look, I have no doubt that he is shocked and scared, but he is not the victim here.
His wife is, she needs his support and understanding, not his anger.
Carisi is not good.
I know he has a job to do, but he was so cynical and suspicious at the beginning of this case that I feel like the writer forgets that he used to be an SVU detective.
