According to an internal report, the Editors Association recovered nearly $1 million worth of unpaid wages and benefits on behalf of members in 2024.
For the western region, the local 700 people recovered a total of $649,009, a large amount (389,270) from members’ unpaid wages. Another $135,137 comes from the losses paid to locals. The rest is due to recovered benefits donations and holiday/vacation paychecks. Overall, the guild found 175 contractual provisions in five different contract agreements.
For the Eastern Region, recycling totals up to $213,502, with the vast majority ($148,029) adding up in the form of unpaid wages. Locally, there are also less losses to benefit donations, family/vacation paycheck jobs, and box/kit rent. (See the chart for details.)

There are several layers of law enforcement process. Guild employees manage databases of project and related contract details and ensure a crew list to inform members of contractual provisions. They also inform management of the most common misunderstandings or the most breach of contractual provisions. Finally, they analyzed the program records with payroll company deposits or bonds to ensure members receive appropriate salary. The margin was not released until the staff determined that any contract was resolved.
“Reserving membership rights under collective bargaining agreements is one of the most important roles of the union,” Jessica Pratt, executive director of the West, and Jennifer Myers, executive director of the East, said in a statement. “We remain committed to actively striving for all members so that they receive their due salary and benefits.”
