With the launch of Vedam Records, Universal Music India (UMI) brings traditional Indian music and mental health technology into the realm of wellness music.
Universal said in a statement on Wednesday (September 11) that the new label is “eager to bring the benefits of India’s true health music to the world”.
The label’s releases will follow the principles of the Indian Vedic Wellness System (IVWS), with music divided into five distinct verticals: yoga, meditation, mindfulness, sleep and chakra balancing.
“In India’s sacred Vedas, the Sama Veda details Vedic melodies and chants practiced in India for thousands of years. These ancient guides guide deep sonic cleansing techniques and sounds to help encourage better of mental health and balance,” Universal India said.
