Lesley Manville in Warsaw Thriller ‘Winter of the Crow’ Official Trailer
“You don’t imagine a couple of <a href="https://cinemamix360.com/2026/08/13/photos-intern-kevin-goes-undercover/” title=”Photos: Intern Kevin goes undercover”>photos will change the world, do you?” Signature Entertainment debuted the official trailer for the indie thriller from Poland titled Winter of the Crow, made by filmmaker Kasia Adamik. This initially premiered at TIFF 2025 last year and it also played at a number of other festivals last fall, with an intiial release in Poland in February earlier this year. A British professor witnesses a student’s murder by secret police in 1981 Warsaw under martial law. She becomes a target while running through the city’s streets, eventually forced to stop and take a stand. Based on a short story by Nobel Prize–winner Olga Tokarczuk, the film is a thrilling cat-and-mouse game set on the eve of Poland’s Martial Law era (~1981 to 1983), starring the supremely talented Lesley Manville. TIFF also adds that “Adamik’s expertly executed vision about a time that remains traumatic for several generations and, to this day informs national border politics, is unmissable for history buffs and film lovers alike.” The film’s cast includes Lesley Manville as Dr. Andrews, Zofia Wichłacz, Andrzej Konopka, Sascha Ley, and Tom Burke. This looks like a very stylish, intricate Cold War era wintry thriller with some good reviews already. Seems like it’s worth a watch.

Winter of the Crow, also known as Zima pod znakiem Wrony in Polish, is directed by filmmaker Kasia Adamik, director of the films Bark!, The Offsiders, Janosik: A True Story, Jolanta, Amok, and lots of TV work including eps of “Warrior Nun”, “No Escape”, “Star City” most recently. The screenplay is written by Kasia Adamik, Sandra Buchta, Lucinda Coxon. From the short story “Professor Andrews Goes to Warsaw” written by Olga Tokarczuk. Produced by Olga Chajdas, Stanisław Dziedzic, Katarzyna Ozga, Nicolas Steil, Samantha Taylor. This initially premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last year and it also played at Athens, Rome, San Sebastian, and Warsaw Film Fests. Signature Entertainment debuts Adamik’s Winter of the Crow film in UK cinemas starting October 16th, 2026. It’ll also be out to watch in the US in October.
