Our rocky relationship with the antihero is suddenly put under the microscope as Dexter analyzes the bloodstains at the crime scene and sets out to target his next victims – those he feels have not received proper justice.

Although “Dexter” ended its award-winning eight seasons in 2013, the man, the myth and the legend live on.

Shortly after the release of “New Blood”, news broke that a spin-off series based on his son Jack was about to be released. We haven’t heard much about this since then, as the focus has shifted to the prequels, which will show how Dexter became the man we know.
Who is Dexter Morgan?
Readers were first introduced to Dexter Morgan in a series of books by Jeff Lindsay, while television viewers were first introduced to Dexter through the Showtime series Dexter Dexter Morgan. The following is from the series that takes Lindsay’s story in a different direction.
Dexter is a bloodstain forensic scientist working for the Miami Metro Police Department.
His sister Debra is a law enforcement officer and detective with the same department.
Dexter was adopted by Harry Morgan, whose somewhat idiosyncratic upbringing led his son down a path of “dark passenger”, a psychological by-product that made him judge, jury and executioner for those he Serves unbelieving criminals.
He’s a serial killer with a conscience, albeit one whose pesky moral compass becomes increasingly unreliable as time goes on.
Dexter is capable of emotion to a certain extent, as evidenced by what he shares with Debra and his dependence on her.
His marriage to Rita Bennett was as happy as that of a serial killer hiding his purpose, and they gave birth to their child Harrison. When his life begins to fall apart and his sister Debra is killed, Dexter loses control of Dark Passenger.
To escape the madness of life, Dexter entrusts his son to a close friend and fakes his death.

In the Dexter: The New Blood series, it was revealed that Dexter was still alive and taking the identity of Jim Lindsay (certainly the return of his creator), and Harrison found him.
Their tumultuous relationship suggests that Harrison may be harboring dark passengers of his own, and instead of continuing to mentor his son like his father, Dexter asks Harrison to kill him for his failures as a father, and Break their bond before more damage is done.
What is “Forensic: Original Sin” about?
The new series will begin 15 years before we were introduced to Dexter in the original series.
This new ten-part thriller will chronicle America’s most beloved serial killer…in training.
Set in Miami in 1991, “Original Sin” tells the story of Dexter’s transformation from student to vengeful serial killer.
When his bloodlust can no longer be ignored, Dexter must learn to channel the darkness within him.
Under the guidance of his father, Harry, he has adopted a code of conduct designed to help him find and kill those who should be eliminated from society without attracting the attention of law enforcement.
This was a particular challenge for young Dexter as he began his forensic internship with the Miami Metro Police Department.
Who stars in “Dragon: Original Sin”?
Patrick Gibson plays Dexter Morgan, following in the footsteps of Michael C. Hall, who created the character.
You may know Gibson from The OA, where he played Steven Winchell, or Nikolai Lanzov in Shadow and Bone.
Christian Slater stars as Harry Morgan, following in the footsteps of James Remar, who created the character.
Slater has been a part of pop culture for decades, ever since he burst onto the scene in the cult film Heathers. He followed that up with a memorable performance in “True Romance,” before earning critical acclaim in the critically acclaimed TV series “Mr. Robot.”
Patrick Dempsey also joins the cast as Aaron Spencer, a captain in the Miami Metro Homicide Bureau who has a decades-long relationship with Harry.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is the latest high-profile actor to join the series. She will make a special guest appearance as Miami Metro Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) head Tanya Martin. She is also Dexter’s new boss.
Molly Brown plays Debra Morgan, following in the footsteps of Jennifer Carpenter, who created the character. Brown currently stars in the Paramount+ series “Wicked” and also stars in the feature film “High School.”
Emmy nominee Clyde Phillips (“Dragon,” “Nurse Jackie”) will return as showrunner and executive producer.
James Martinez (Love Victor), Christina Milian (“Falling”), Alex Shimizu (“The Blacklist”) and Reno Wilson (“Mac & Molly”) join the previously announced cast.
The four actors play members of the Miami Metro Police Department.
Martinez plays Angel Batista, a budding homicide detective with a mind-driven personality.
Milian plays Maria LaGuerta, the first female homicide detective in the Miami metro.
Shimizu plays Vince Masuka, a forensic analyst who eagerly shares his expertise while relishing the opportunity to boss around new intern Dexter Morgan.
Wilson plays Bobby Watts, Harry’s long-time companion and confidant.
Is Dracula: Original Sin a limited series?
We have no word yet on the length of the series.
But with the network leaning into IP and the damage done to Dexter’s psyche, making him a bit of a psycho under Harry’s tutelage, I expect this to continue for more than one season – assuming It worked well for the network.

How many episodes does “Dragon: Original Sin” have?
The new drama has aired ten episodes so far.
While it’s not called a limited series, don’t expected Unless it performs well for the network, it will continue.
“Dexter: The New Blood” performed well, but the ending once again disappointed fans, so it’s open to question whether fans will want to give it another go.
However, by going the prequel route, the ending is set and sharing the backstory is harder to disappoint than a new future.

While the name change is still quite confusing, you can watch Original Sin on Paramount+ with Showtime (formerly Showtime), and the show is now also on Paramount+ via the “with Showtime” plug-in.

Our best estimate is 2025, but now we know the show will premiere on Paramount+ and Showtime on Friday, December 13th.
