In the second episode of Slow Horse: Season 4; a stranger comes to town and River tells his father to “Ask me something that only I know.” David Cartwright must play with his grandson understand the truth under his careful guidance.

At the start of the season, Cartwright Sr. believes he killed his grandson River. Then the river card is played with the phantom. He must find out who wanted his grandfather dead. Meanwhile, back at Slough Hall, the Rejects struggle with their day-to-day jobs in big city London. The bombing remains under investigation and is now in the hands of the deputy director of MI5.

    where is the spy

River travels to France following clues found in the body of a dead man pretending to be him. Jackson Lamb lies to the vice principal while trying to spy on River. Diana Taverner is currently pulling double duty. She threw the new director of MI5 off balance and suggested he was involved in a cover-up. Taverna is also hiding the new girl Geeti Rahman (Kiran Sonia Sarwar).

River questioned David Cartwright. He was convinced that Cartwright was in some way faking his symptoms. Both men were worried about the river bed on the field.

Flett (Ruth Bradley) places MI5’s new girl in a safe house. Ostensibly to protect her. In fact, it was meant to keep agents busy while Taverner destroyed incriminating evidence.

River travels to France and finds the town where the bar is located. While following the trail left by the dead “River”, he runs into trouble.

At Slough Hall, the slow horses, the rejected ones, are struggling. Longbridge (Kadiff Kirwan) gambled again but lost.

    keep going

Lamb tells the team that River is actually still alive. They all responded to this new development in different ways.

Jackson Lamb meets the “new Catherine”. Moira (Joanna Scanlan) tidies up his office and orders Longbridge and Dande to restore it to its original state. Probably came back with dust and all.

Meanwhile, Lamb invites the new office manager to lunch. He forces her to help him monitor the river. His “Joe” is in the field.

River is having trouble following the would-be assassin.

    review

As usual, everyone came to the show with a great performance. Oldman has never looked better. But to be fair, this is a role he could play in his sleep. Kristin Scott Thomas is another person who can pull off this type of role with ease.

The real fun is the cast of “Losers.” Slough Hall and its disaffected and disillusioned rejection is only this side of the splendor. As in previous seasons, each cast member has their moment in the spotlight, and they all shine.

Emma Flyte is this season’s “weasel in the chicken coop.” Arranged by Taverner and under special orders from Whelan, the new head of MI5, she is the outsider in this small team of spies.

    judgment

slow horse It’s addictive television. Even though it’s now familiar that River is in another limbo, it’s still fun to watch. Still, the long game is afoot here. The Cartwrights of this world are part of an oligarchy. This episode is just another step in the “big reveal”.

The show airs every Wednesday on Apple TV+.
