Never!” 🎵 Icon Film UK has revealed an official UK trailer for a film titled The Yellow Tie, telling the story of Romanian composer Sergiu Celibidache. This music biopic is about the life and times of Celibidache, who was in Berlin during World War II studying at a university there while the war was ongoing, afterwards becoming the youngest conductor ever to work for the Berlin Philharmonic. In the film, he is played by both Ben Schnetzer and John Malkovich, each portraying him at different times of his long life. The extraordinary life of Sergiu Celibidache – from his childhood in Romania, to his exile in pursuit of his career in music, his struggle for survival in wartime Germany and his rise, fall and rise again, in an unimaginable life journey. Directed by Sergiu’s son, Serge Ioan Celibidache, this uniquely personal tale of family, duty & dreams <a href="https://cinemamix360.com/2026/08/16/pompeii-and-8-documentaries-headlined-by-big-stars/” title=”'Pompeii' And 8 Documentaries Headlined By Big Stars”>stars a superb cast including Schnetzer & John Malkovich, with Sean Bean, Miranda Richardson, Kate Phillips, Anton Lesser, Ewan Horrocks, and Alma Boiangiu. The epic true story of Sergiu Celibidache (Schnetzer & Malkovich), following the legendary conductor from a childhood spent under his father’s draconian authority, through to adulthood as he masters his craft in Berlin. However, his greatest struggle emerges at the outbreak of war. With the world collapsing around him, Sergiu must evade death and starvation to cement his place in the world of classical music, but risks being torn apart by a relentless pursuit for perfection that could overshadow his legacy forever.The Yellow Tie is directed by the French-Romanian filmmaker Serge Ioan Celibidache (aka Serge Ioan Celebidachi), director of the movies Sergiu Celibidache’s Garden, Edward & Lulu, Taming the Apex, and Octav previously, along with other short films. The screenplay is co-written by James Olivier & Serge Ioan Celibidache. Produced by Adela Vrinceanu Celebidachi, Cristina Dobritoiu, James Olivier. This originally opened in Romania in November last year. Icon Film Distrib debut Celibidache’s The Yellow Tie film in UK cinemas starting October 9th, 2026 this fall.
