Hallmark+ is going strong.
With the celebration of the Chicken Sisters and Lacey Chabert already making waves, the streamer has announced an upcoming limited series based on the hit podcast.
They’re giving this new brand a chance to compete with original content that Hallmark Movies Now lacks, and we’re here for it!
Today, Hallmark+ announced that the new six-episode holiday series The Mistletoe Murders will premiere on Thursday, October 31.
Sarah Drew (“Grey’s Anatomy”) stars as Emily Lane, a small-town shopkeeper with a secret.
The series also stars Peter Mooney (“Rookie Blue”) stars as local detective Sam Willner, with newcomer Sierra Marilyn Riley as his teenage daughter Violet.
Other cast members include Jean Yoon (“Kim’s Shop”), Lara Amersey (“The Nutcracker”) and “Good Witch” actress Kelly Evans.
David Hewlett (“The Shape of Water”) appears repeatedly.
Guest stars this season include Hallmark favorites Tom Cavanagh (“The Flash”), Jake Epstein (“Suits”) and Steven Lund (“Schitt’s Creek”).
The Mistletoe Murders tells the story of Emily Lane (Drew), a friendly and optimistic owner of Under the Mistletoe, a charming year-round Christmas-themed store.
Yet her inner voice reveals a sardonic sense of humor, sly wit, and a keen eye for details that most people would miss… because Emily has a big secret.
Living in the quaint tourist town of Fletcher Grove, Emily finds herself forced to investigate the local, not-so-bizarre murders.
As Emily begins her own personal investigation, Detective Sam Wellner (Mooney), a smart local cop whose obsession with Emily isn’t entirely gratuitous, begins to wonder if there’s more to Emily than meets the eye. See more stuff on.
“We’re extremely excited to venture into the Christmas noir space and bring a holiday murder mystery to Hallmark’s cozy mystery audiences for the first time,” said Kelly Garrett, vice president of programming at Hallmark Media.
“This layered story, based on Ken Cupurus’ beloved Audible Original series, will take us deeper into who our characters are and will give audiences interesting new twists.”
Executive producer/showrunner Ken Kuplus (“Carter”), executive producers Michelle Melanson (“The Next Step”), Jocelyn Hamilton (“The Burden of Truth”), De Rue and co-executive producer Grant Harvey (“The Way Home”) and showrunner Robbie David (“Dark Matter”).
The series is produced by Lionsgate Canada and Headspinner Productions.
“Mistletoe Murder” is adapted from the Audible Original series “Mistletoe Murder”, starring Cobie Smulders, Raymond Alblack and the entire cast.
Two seasons have aired so far, and the third will premiere on November 7, only on Audible.
We can’t wait to see what else is coming to Hallmark+. Have you been watching?
