Marvel releases short trailer for upcoming animated series Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
The clip begins with a look at the Spider-Man float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, celebrating Spider-Man and Marvel’s roots in New York, the home of Marvel and its 85-year comic book history.
The screen then switches to footage of Spider-Man’s live broadcast. We also hear some classic 1960s themes with a modern twist.
The full trailer hasn’t been released yet, so this is the first official clip. The animation series is inspired by Steve Ditko Comic art style, the series takes place before 2016 Captain America: Civil Warbut there is one obvious key difference.
“Instead of returning to his apartment to meet Tony Stark, Norman Osborn was chatting with his Aunt May when he walked in the door.
“Just as meeting Tony thrust Peter into a bigger spotlight than a kid needs, Peter having Norman as his mentor sends his life into an unexpected trajectory that connects him with the rest of the Marvel Universe. Many unexpected characters collide.
Jeff Trammell is the lead writer on the series, and he shared some insights into what fans can expect from the series.
“You know, I’m going to give the cliche, ‘expect the unexpected’ answer, but honestly, I think you can expect your friendly neighbor Spider-Man. He’s hanging out in New York; it’s not a giant intergalactic adventure.”
“That’s where his roots come from, and as fans, there are a lot of things that we first look at and say, ‘Oh, yeah, I know that part of the story.'” Digging deeper into “Maybe You Don’t Know Everything” is really interesting. There are some surprises in there that I’m really excited to dive into and it’s really fun to subvert these expectations that have been built up for a long time,” Trammell added.
Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man Premieres on January 29, 2025 on Disney+.
