It’s been five years since the last “Chicago” crossover, so “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D.” are doing their best to create a disaster that will affect the franchise for the foreseeable future. These three shows had a ripple effect.
It’s always fun when these worlds collide, but this go-around will be a very different affair since each show’s cast has changed quite a bit since the last crossover.
The sad thing about this event is that we’re sure we’ll probably lose a few characters, as that’s one way to make these episodes more memorable.
In the newly released trailer, Chicago Fire’s Stella Kidd and Chicago Police Department’s Adam Ruzek are trapped in a train after a gas explosion.
Despite having some experience saving lives, they are fighting against time as the air is running out, meaning the lives of some civilians are in their hands.
Can they work together to keep people active and maintain morale until the aforementioned emergency services reach them?
Killing Stella Kidd would be a big mistake
There’s no doubt that this will be the ultimate test, but Stella’s career is constantly evolving and we’re sure she’ll mesh well with the cool, collected Adam.
Hopefully they will emerge victorious and succeed in saving everyone, but there’s no telling what obstacles will be in their way.
A lot can happen in three episodes. It will be interesting to see how their spouses react to the news that they are trapped in a series of explosions.
We see Severide take immediate action upon hearing the news. Still, we know he can’t resist putting himself in danger, so we fully expect him to get into a lot of precarious situations during the event.
It would be hard for Seyfried to lose Stella, and considering they’ve come together, it would be cruel to include a development like this for the sake of drama.
Then there was Pratt, she collapsed, and by the time she got to the hospital, things got worse. Pratt had been a regular on Chicago PD and her loss will be felt throughout the rest of the series.
She always offers her unfiltered two cents about any situation and has been a part of the show from the beginning, so we can’t imagine what would happen without her.
We highly doubt the trailer will confirm any deaths.
What’s more likely is that the show will take a different direction than what has been revealed, because those sly editors love to keep viewers on their toes.
How did the disaster begin?
The official plot synopsis states that a gas explosion shakes a high-rise building and puts the lives of hundreds of people at risk.
“However, it’s the catastrophe beneath the surface that has our heroes racing to save 40 people trapped deep underground, including two of their own,” the ominous joke concludes.
We’ll just have to tune in to find out what’s coming, as NBC has yet to release any photos of the tie-in.
Typically, we’ve had plenty of photos from the episodes before, but there’s an air of secrecy that leads us to believe big series changes are coming.
NBC has switched up the programming order for the crossover event, with “Chicago Fire” opening at 8/7c, followed by “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D.”
