Sony Pictures releases first trailer 28 years laterdirector Danny Boyle’s long-awaited sequel to the zombie apocalypse.
In the clip, we’re given a brief but gory recap of what happened 10,228 days ago, when “days turned into weeks” and then “weeks turned into years” as a zombie infection swept an unsuspecting Britain. Years” as we zero in on a remote island of survivors who seem to have reverted to a simpler society (think bows and arrows for hunting). Somehow, zombies have arrived in this remote rural idyll, and things quickly go south. In the trailer, we also get our first look at Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jodie Comer, as well as a bloody, messy-looking Ralph Fiennes.
The film’s official description reads: “Sometime after the events of After 28 weeksThe Wrath Virus has returned, and a group of survivors must survive in a world overrun by hordes of infected.
Cillian Murphy will star in the original 2002 film 28 days laterBut the Oscar winner appears to be absent from the first trailer, although feverish speculation on social media has swirled around the idea that Murphy is the zombie featured in the field chase scene.
In addition to Taylor Johnson, Comer and Fiennes, the film also stars Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman and Edwin Redding. Original screenwriter Alex Garland also returns to pen the script with Boyle.
This movie was filmed back-to-back with another sequel, 28 Years Later Part Two: Temple of Bones. The project is directed by Nia DaCosta, written by Boyle and Garland, and stars Murphy.
28 years later Will be released on June 20th.
