Alicia Arauzo and Luis Fernández have been appointed joint managing directors of Universal Music Spain.
Both Arauzo and Fernandez will be based in Madrid and report directly to Jesus Lopez, chairman and CEO of Universal Music Latin America and Iberia.
Additionally, Ana Hernández, Managing Director of Universal Music Portugal, will now report directly to Jesús López.
Alicia Arauzo began her career in 1982 at the Spanish record label Hispavox, subsequently holding various positions at EMI, BMG and MCA Spain.
In 1996, she joined Universal Music Spain and worked her way up from international marketing manager to marketing director, and in 2020 she was promoted to general manager.
Luis Fernández joins Universal Music Spain in 2023 as Head of A&R.
UMG said that before joining UMG, he “had a strong entrepreneurial background” and extensive experience in A&R and artist management, having served as CEO and founder of Sonido Muchacho, an independent record and label he founded in 2014. Music publishing company.
