Three years ago, Amazon-MGM Studios announced it would develop live-action movies Sheila series. Well, the series is moving forward as the studio hires writers and producers.
Heidi Schreck has joined the project as writer and executive producer. Nicole Cassell remains on board to direct and executive produce, with Robin Sweet and DreamWorks Animation also serving as executive producers.
The show’s synopsis describes it as “an epic fantasy series about a young orphan who leads a revolution to save her planet from destruction.”
Schreck has been involved in similar shows before Billions and Nurse Jackiee during performance time, Ship from elsewhere AMC and Amazon series i love dickstarring Kathryn Hahn and Kevin Bacon.
She-Ra is definitely a different type of project for her, and it will be interesting to see what she does with it and how she approaches the story and the character.
This is the second live-action Masters of the Universe project being developed by Amazon-MGM Studios. They are also currently working on master of the universe film, currently in development with the director Travis Knight.
Nicholas Galitzin (Purple Heart, red, white and royal blue, your thoughts) will play Prince Adam/He-Man, Camila Mendes (riverdale) will play his right-hand assistant Teela, and Alison Brie (glow, community) is Skull’s second-in-command, Evil-Lyn. Jared Leto is also rumored to be playing Skeletor.
