“I feel like I could break down my life into three very clear parts; religion, reeducation, and rebirth,” Amelia Moore tells Apple Music.
Growing up in the conservative town of Lawrenceville, Georgia, the multi-talented singer-songwriter had big dreams. She expressed herself by experimenting with makeup, fashion, and music, even though she got ridiculed for it. “Because the people around me made me feel like an idiot for dreaming big, I did not really believe in myself at all,” she shares. But after receiving mentorship from choreographer Dacia James Lewis, Amelia got the push she needed to become an artist.
In an exclusive short film, Moore opens up about her move to LA and how she forced herself to create after the entire world shut down. “We’re forced to be inside, and I could not let myself not be creative,” she says. “I started making these vision boards and was planning, planning, and planning. Because I knew everything would happen, and I wanted to be as ready as I could be.”
In an interview with Apple Music’s Travis Mills, Amelia discussed growing up in her hometown, meeting Drake, and how she found her community.
