“This is a pivotal moment in Glinda’s journey,” Grande said. “It shows a side of her that we’ve never seen before. In a stage show, that transformation happens offstage. The “We Can’t Be Friends” singer also shared her dream role of Glinda and the preparations that went into bringing the beloved character to life.
“I started taking acting classes a year before I knew when auditions were going to happen,” she tells the podcast. “I wanted to make sure I was ready. It took me months to sing the soprano part of Glinda. Pop singing and musical theater are so different. I had to retrain my muscles and re-establish my ability to handle every note way.
Grande admits that taking on the role of Glinda required a strong sense of responsibility.
“From the moment it was announced, I knew this role would stay with me forever. It’s an honor, but it also carries a lot of weight,” she said. “I wanted to do it justice. Glinda was more than a character to me – she was a symbol of growth and love, and I wanted to give her everything I had.
Elsewhere in the interview, Grande further teased the confirmed deluxe edition eternal sunshinerevealed that the project is “ready to go” and will include several new tracks.
“This is a very special project,” Grande said. “I’m out a lot now. I want my kids to miss me for two seconds. I’m excited to surprise them at some point, but I’m still thinking carefully about the timing in my head. “Peach” isn’t over yet, But she’s going to hide in the closet for a while.
