The holidays don’t really begin until the lighting of the iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and NBC’s annual show. Christmas at Rockefeller Center Wednesday night’s (December 4) telecast brings together an all-star roster of performers to celebrate.
The Backstreet Boys took the stage to perform Nat King Cole’s holiday classic “The Christmas Song (Wish You a Merry Christmas).” Dressed in coordinated festive ensembles ranging from red and green velvet to cream suede and plaid accessories, the quintet traded lines and maintained harmony throughout the performance.
Kelly Clarkson, who will return to host and perform on the show, kicked off the telecast with “You for Christmas” from her 2021 holiday album As Christmas approaches… “It’s hard this time of year/Looking for blessings in the dark/If Santa has a gift to bring us/I’ll tell him all I want for Christmas is you,” she sings in the chorus, wrapped in fur clothes black jacket.
Clarkson joins today The show’s Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker and Craig Melvin handle broadcasting.
In addition to Clarkson and the Backstreet Boys, other performers taking the stage before the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting include Dan + Shay, Megan Hilty, Jennifer Hudson, Coco Jones, Little Big Town, RAYE, Thalia and, of course, Dan + Shay, Megan Hilty, Jennifer Hudson, Coco Jones, Little Big Town, RAYE, Thalia, the Radio City Rockettes.
