Opening title only seconds bad monkeyI sense imitation. Of course, this is the sincerest form of flattery, but…
bad monkey Feel Like an outback version of Calabash’s death and other details. The music in the opening theme sounds like a clone of Mandy Patinkin and Violet Bean’s duet. Vince Vaughn appears to be playing two roles in Apple’s product.
I’ve been a Vaughan fan ever since dodgeball. He delivered. Whether it’s comedy, drama or anything in between, Vaughn can perform. He never seemed to be acting, either. He just…is that character.
Although a lot of the time, this feels like a rehash of his character in Dodgeball. Hopeless, rebellious, and self-centered, with a hint of self-deprecating humor. At this point, the actors really do a great job.
story so far
A honeymoon couple is fishing in the deep sea. The new husband hooked an amputated arm. The severed limb contained an extended middle finger and a platinum wedding ring. The police chief who has suspended Agent Yancey (Vaughn) wants his arm taken away. The chief says the Florida Keys don’t need an “additional” headache over the mystery arm. Yancey reluctantly agreed to move the items to another area: Miami/Dade.
Meanwhile, Yancey’s girlfriend Bonnie attempts to rekindle her relationship with the suspended detective. The other person has his own problems. Neville’s property was sold. He goes to the local voodoo queen to solve his problem.
So far it works
Even though I feel like one Death and other details Imitators, without Patinkin and Bean, bad monkey working. *Especially that score. Creator Bill Lawrence gives us an interesting story and interesting characters.
This narrative-style mystery relies on the vocal talents of Tom Nowitzki, who also plays a small but clearly integral role in the show. His husky tone throughout was so nice. A variation on the Gravel Delivery King; Kris Kristofferson.
Kristofferson’s insinuations aside, the show’s context works in its favor. from miami vice arrive burn noticeThere’s something fascinating about crime in Florida. This is especially true if located in the southern part of the state. Palm trees, sea breeze, broken arms…
main cast
Vince Vaughn plays Detective Yancey. He is an eloquent and funny man. Yancey had no problem sleeping with another man’s wife. However, he did take offense to the fact that the severed arm was moved to another county.
Michelle Monaghan plays Bonnie. Yancy’s love interest. A woman with a shady past clearly does not fall within the scope of the legal profession.
John Otis as Rogelio; Yancy’s partner. The long-suffering man is still in love with his law enforcement marriage partner.
Meredith Hagner plays Eve, the widow of the arm’s former owner.
Ronald Peet plays Neville, who has property issues and seems to cross paths with Yancy.
Natalie Martinez plays Dr. Campesino, Yancy’s ME and spiritual twin.
Jodie Turner-Smith is the Dragon Queen. To Neville, she was a strange mixture of fear and desire.
The Crystal Monkey is a Pirates of the Caribbean monkey that Neville won in a poker game.
judgment
so far bad monkey It’s a 4.5 star effort. So far, it has received high praise from critics and audiences alike. *Surprisingly, Rotten Tomatoes gives this a 91% rating. Death and other details Overtones. Apple’s production is fun and in a way smart.
New episodes air every Wednesday on Apple TV+. This is truly worth a look or two. Check it out and see. If you’re a Vaughn fan, you won’t regret it.
