bad monkey: Episode seven is, in part, about cat people and murder. It’s also about acknowledgment. The protagonists all move forward, or at least in one case, backwards, but by the end of the episode, things have changed for everyone.
story so far
no obvious order
Yancey got his badge and rank back. Mendez shoots Rowe. Mendez was eventually arrested. Rosa takes a break from her work. The Dragon Queen resigned, and Eve only liked Gracie’s skin.
It turns out that Detective Mendez is just obsessed with his cat. In fact, he was so obsessed that he risked arrest to visit his sick cat. As expected, he was arrested.
With a little help, Bonnie realizes she needs to pay for her crimes of sexual abuse.
Narrator Tom Nowitzki still wins the award for “Grumpiest Narrator Ever.” He has almost no trouble expressing his dissatisfaction with the obnoxious task of revisiting previous episodes.
bad monkey
The play gradually brings awareness to the fact that everyone must own up to their sins and bad behavior. Gracie, aka the Dragon Queen, learns from Eve of all people that her disguise as the evil witch is over. Egg was delighted with this new turn.
After Rosa performs an autopsy on a drowned six-year-old boy, she realizes she needs to move on, too.
Yancey learned that there was a price to pay for his badge, which left a bad taste in his mouth. Neville did the right thing, but he’s still trying to get his land back.
Yaya bids farewell to the Dragon Queen and welcomes a new electric scooter. Meanwhile, the monkey comforts the sad old woman.
murder?
The episode ends with Yancey and his father trying to figure out what to do with Cody. Outside the beachfront bungalow, men approached the house with semi-automatic rifles.
Summarize
Things may be unresolved bad monkey But murder seemed just around the corner. Despite the lack of new bodies in this episode, things are looking very dangerous for next week’s installment.
*Side note: I will not be listing the cast. We all know who everyone is, and no new characters of real importance emerge. So, besides new FBI Director Rhodes (played by Lauren O’Quinn), are we likely to see more of him in the future?
Is it just me, or does anyone else want Yancey to throw his next-door neighbor into a drink? Please answer on the postcard…
