2023 movies, beautiful friend In a word, it’s disturbing. Director Truman Chiuly almost single-handedly brought this unsettling vision to life. Chuli is: Producer, Writer, Director, Editor, Cinematographer and Casting Director. Chiuley is what I call a Robert Rodriguez filmmaker. Michael Kewley served as co-editor on the film. *
He does it all.
The film tells the story of the beginnings of a sexual predator in an intimate and disturbing way. With a cast of just three actors, the film’s almost claustrophobic nature makes it “sweaty”.

Adam Jones is Daniel.
Alexandria Meyer is Madison Richards.
Ranin Navat is Madison’s brother.
story
Daniel is a social misfit who desperately needs a companion, and he goes hunting. In training he was an internalized predator. Daniel told himself that he was tired of being alone and just wanted someone to love.
He filmed every step of his outrageous journey except the very end.
Why does this work so well?
Daniel was carefully recording the victim’s condition. This is so reminiscent of the murders of Leonard Lake and Charles Wu. For more than three years, the two predators indulged themselves. Filming the victims as they were raped, murdered and tortured. *Check any true crime website, they will be mentioned.
Daniel fits the profile of a serial sexual predator very well. It is easy to believe that he owned a copy of John Fowles’s The Collector. *Collectors are found to be owned by most serial looters. This is the story of a man who imprisons a young woman in his basement. This seems to be some kind of “introductory book”.
Although Chiuri chooses to keep the violence as well as nudity and sex scenes to a minimum, we feel the suspense and fear rising with every frame.

Adam’s Daniel gives us a breathless performance that borders on slack. His breathless narration almost immediately puts us in the right frame of mind. The control he shows in the film is more than just a sign of “sanity.” He “beats the Rookers” here Michael Rooker, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.
No bloody snarls here. It’s just that breathless narrative that makes your skin crawl. He’s been singing “I Am Who I Am” to us Popeye.
Meyer is the victim. Her changes in character arcs and switch-clicks are performed very well.
Kudos to both performers for the very intimate and trembling dancing. It’s something you’ll think about long after the movie fades to black.

beautiful friend It’s a shaky 4 stars. Shaky as the kidnapper/predator’s manifesto will give you chills and the performances will give you chills as well.
