Michaela DePrince, a powerful ballet dancer who has starred in dance with the stars and Beyoncé’s lemonade Movies are dead. She was 29 years old at the time. The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Her family announced the devastating news via the dancer’s social media pages. “It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of star ballerina Michaela Mabinty DePrince,” DePrince wrote in a statement posted on Instagram. Her art has touched the hearts of countless people, and her spirit has inspired many, leaving an indelible mark on the ballet world and beyond.
DePrince was born Mabinty Bangura in Kenema, Sierra Leone in 1995. However, in 1999, she and a girl named Mia were adopted by Elaine and Charles DePrince of New Jersey.
DePrince attended ballet school in Philadelphia and was one of six subjects featured in the 2011 documentary first place. she appeared in an episode dance with the stars and went on to join the Junior Company of the Dutch National Ballet. She was also Boston Ballet’s second soloist.
Notably, DePrince appears in Beyoncé’s “Freedom” visual lemonade The film that accompanies her 2016 album of the same name. She also stars in the 2021 ballet film Coppelia.
