The U.S. Postal Service may have found a way to unite a deeply divided country after this month’s election: It’s issuing a Betty White stamp.
The beloved actor is best known for his role in ” golden girl, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, boston legalThe USPS announced on Friday (November 15) that content such as this will appear on the 2025 Forever stamps.
White died in late December 2021, less than three weeks before her 100th birthday. The Postal Service has not yet announced a release date for the stamps.
“Betty White (1922-2021) was an icon of American television, sharing her wisdom and warmth with audiences for seven decades,” the U.S. Postal Service said in announcing the stamp. The stamp is based on celebrity photographer Kwaku Alston’s A 2010 photo depicts a smiling White. “In his 90s, the comedian has won fans among younger generations and is revered as a compassionate animal advocate.”
Boston-based artist Dale Stephanos created digital illustrations based on Alston’s photos.
“I would love to send a letter to my 18-year-old self with this stamp on it and tell him everything is going to be okay,” Stephanos posted on Facebook.
Regardless of their personal politics, self-proclaimed supporters of President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris reacted with glee on social media.
“Betty White is my lifelong hero! In fact, when I was a little girl, I had a doll that I named Betty White,” one Trump supporter said at (formerly Twitter) said.
“One thing to make this terrible week a little better: We got Betty White stamps,” a pro-HarrisX account posted.
White combines a wholesome image with a flare of dirty jokes. Her television career began in the early 1950s and flourished as she grew older.
