as saturday night live To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Peacock has shared the first trailer for its upcoming four-part documentary series, SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night. An immersive undertaking honoring a great legacy saturday night livethe new documentary series features more than 60 contributors, including current and former saturday night live alumni and covers decades of the iconic show’s history.
“Anyone can do comedy,” former cast member Tracy Morgan says in the new trailer. “I can teach all of you here how to tell jokes and do comedy, but are you funny?”
Morgan is joined by some of the show’s most famous actors, hosts and writers, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jimmy Fallon, Al Franken, Amy Poehler, Bobby Moy Nyhan, Bowen Young, Pete Davidson, Tom Hanks, Kevin Nylon, Andy Samberg, Dana Carvey, Bob Odenkirk, Seth Meyers, Jon Lovitz, Keenan Thompson and others – they reflect on the history and impact saturday night live It’s been decades.
“This is an American institution,” added former writer and host Larry David.
The first episode of the series, “Five Minutes,” delves into saturday night live The audition process, including previously unseen audition footage and first-hand accounts of the nerve-wracking events from some of the show’s most famous names. The writing process, including the often-overlooked authorship of historical sketches, is the focus of the second episode, aptly titled “The Author: A Week in the SNL Writers’ Room.”
The third episode delves into the sketch titled “More Cowbell” and the 2000 segment’s lasting impact on comedy, while the fourth and final episode kicks off “Season 11: A Weird Year,” Because it examines the pivotal year 2000.
The broadcast is directed by Robert Alexander, Marshall Curry, Neal Berkley and Jason Zelders and produced by Tremolo Productions, Jonathan Formica and Allison Klein. Oscar and Emmy winner Morgan Neville also serves as executive producer alongside Caitlin Rogers.

SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night will premiere exclusively on Peacock as a streamer on January 16th. The documentary is part of a series of celebratory programs including Questlove’s Ladies and Gentlemen…50th Anniversary of SNL Music The NBC documentary airs on January 27, and the live primetime special airs on NBC and Peacock on February 16.
