Rapper and songwriter BigXthaPlug was previously featured on “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” hitmaker Shaboozey’s song “Drink Don’t Need No Mix” from Shaboozey’s album Where I’ve been is not where I’m going) – but he said there would be more countries to cooperate in the future.
In an interview with Complex , BigXthaPlug noted that he’s working on an upcoming country EP packed with country music luminaries.
“I prepared a country EP, you have Shaboozey, you have Morgan Wallen, you have Post Malone, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll…” BigXthaPlug said. The rapper also noted that he has a second project in the works, although he hasn’t decided which one to release first.
“I have another project that I’m putting together, which is kind of like a ‘South Mix’ between me, Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, NLE Choppa…” he said.
Of course, before Jelly Roll turned to country music, he spent several years releasing rap projects and still incorporates medleys of rap classics into his headlining shows, as well as his hits like “Son of a Sinner” and ” Halfway to Hell”. Wallen, meanwhile, previously collaborated with Moneybagg Yo on “Whiskey Whiskey,” and Lil Durk on “Broadway Girls” (which topped the 2022 Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart) and “Stand By Me ”.
Texas native BigXthaPlug previously hinted at a Wallen-Post Malone collaboration during an interview with Los Angeles station Real 92.3 in January, when he recalled Wallen coming to one of his shows in Arkansas and them hanging out together. At one point during the interview, BigXthaPlug called Wallen a “country drake” and teased the collaboration, saying: “We’re actually cooking up something… I did something with Morgan Wallen. Me and Post. Malone got something together.
In 2022, BigXthaPlug released the song “Texas”, which reached the top 40 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Last year, he raised the possibility of state cooperation, telling complex“I also really wanted to do a true country version because a lot of country playlists and stuff were reaching out to me because of this song. I thought, ‘Why not do a song with a pop country artist , and then expand that into some Lil Nas X type deal? “
2024 is a big year for artists across genres, with collaborations including the work of Beyonce Cowboy Carter Project and Post Malone’s F-1 trillionboth topping the Billboard 200 in all genres. Cowboy Carter with artists such as Shaboozey, Linda Martell, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson, while Post Malone’s F-1 trillion Collaborations with artists including Wallen, Tim McGraw, Lainey Wilson, Parton, Luke Combs and Sierra Ferrell. Meanwhile, Kane Brown’s collaboration with Marshmello has topped the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for 33 consecutive weeks.
Depending on when BigXthaPlug releases the EP he’s teasing, it seems likely that these cross-border collaboration hits will continue to pop up in 2025.
