Actors complained, fans protested, and industry observers expressed bewilderment at the decision, but as much as we may not like it, Blue Bloods is coming to an end.
This is bad news.
The good news is that the show is about to have its best season yet. Now, we have new information on how this will all end.
CBS announced today that the show’s final episode will air on Friday, December 13.
Ahead of this sad day, the network will air a one-hour retrospective special called “Blue Bloods: Celebrating Family Legacy” on Friday, November 29.
“This hour-long ET News special celebrates the 293rd episode of Blue Bloods and features all-new exclusive interviews with stars and regular cast members who share their favorite memories and behind-the-scenes moments from the past 14 years,” according to the release The manuscript was written today.
“This special, hosted by Alien’s Nichelle Turner and featuring archival interviews from the Alien vault, was written for dinner with the Reagan family every Friday night and in support of Blue Blood” became a love letter to loyal fans of one of television’s top series.
In a segment that’s sure to delight fans, the special will delve into the story behind the Reagans’ famous family dinners.
“In a rare look at the famous family dinner scene, viewers learn the secrets of the family dinner directly from Reagan’s dining room table.
“This special reveals new details about the cast’s first family dinner with strangers during the pilot, and how it made the show the global phenomenon it is today.
“Additionally, fans can hear directly from the cast about what it was like filming on the streets of New York and get a sneak peek at the exciting finale before the series sends off.”
Apparently, fans were hoping for the surprise news that CBS would decide to renew the show.
But since that probably won’t happen, a send-off special will suffice.
Hey, at least we have a possible Blue Bloods spinoff to look forward to!
