Blue Blood fans have reason to celebrate this beautiful Tuesday afternoon.
After several months of rumble, Tom Selleck’s extra program was derived.
CBS confirmed the news that the franchise will be expanded, and the first detail is interesting to say the least.
The series is called Boston Blue, and as you might have collected it means we will be leaving New York.
Boston Blue focuses on Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan, who serves at Boston PD.
“In Boston, he paired with Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a famous law enforcement family,” the log teased.
Beyond that, all we know is that Boston Blue has signed a direct order and will premiere sometime during the 2025-2026 TV season.
After 14 seasons, the Blue Blood cancellation was purely economical as the series became too expensive to maintain.
As a result, there are all signs that new entry in the series will be realized.
In recent years, CBS has ended many of the much-loved series just to bring the universe back to its spin-offs.
Elsbeth has had a huge success this season with the young Sheldon branch Georgie & Mandy’s first marriage and good fight follow-up.
The blue blood universe continues because it is still popular
Given brand awareness, derivatives are a cheap way to maintain franchise, we should probably expect a similar strategy in the broadcast network in the coming years.
The economically viable demand for TV shows and increasing ratings are making the barometer of success more difficult.
The good news about Blue Blood is that the property has a lot of life. Fans expressed their voices when news was cancelled.
These decisions usually don’t make much sense to the audience, but at least fans will be able to see what happens next to Danny.
There is no mention of what will happen to other actors, but we have to imagine that they will get the guest arc because it will be important to keep Danny away from his family.
NCIS has expanded on both CBS and Paramount+, so maybe the third entry in Blue Bloods Universe will get the green light at Paramount+.
The possibilities here are endless, but for fans they will get some more great characters, which makes them excited.
More casting details should be available soon, but we hope there is a theory about who will follow Danny to Boston.
Many spin-offs from the proven series are being produced
Boston Blues will join Fire Countroff’s Sheriff Country on CBS’s 2025-26 season schedule.
The network also prepares derivative products from FBI, EQ and community.
However, the fate of these shows will be decided after the backdoor Pilot Airline this spring.
Given that Boston Blue went straight into the series, we tend to believe that CBS believes the script is solid enough to pick up.
