I hate to think about it, but we are rapidly approaching the end of Blue Bloods.
With just six episodes left and we’re a quarter of the way through the final batch of episodes, Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 13 introduces a character that may be crucial to the final story.
The good news is that the character is played by the legendary Mira Sorvino, and her scenes with Frank should be especially interesting.
Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 13 Spoilers Reveal Who Plays Mira Sorvino
Sorvino plays Fire Commissioner Veronica Radley, which makes her character even more interesting.
It’s a police procedural trope where cops and firefighters hate each other.
I’ve never understood it, but this rivalry appears in almost every police show I’ve ever watched, and when eight-year-old Sean announces that he wants to join the fire department when he grows up, the family stays silent.
Frank is a man of integrity, but will he be biased against the fire commissioner because of this rivalry?
According to spoilers for Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 13, Frank’s run-in with the fire commissioner has to do with the way she treats the mayor, which is a surprising development considering Frank’s overall opinion of his boss.
However, Frank showed compassion towards Mayor Chase in Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 12, and he usually stands up for what is right even if he has personal issues with someone being mistreated.
How Sorvino’s character made it to the series finale
The fire commissioner is supposed to appear in a few episodes, meaning this could be an ongoing arc.
While there is little information about the series finale, it has been confirmed that Frank will continue his mission to protect Mayor Chase from those who would try to harm him.
It’s unclear exactly what this means, but since Frank represents Chase against the fire commissioner, it feels like the beginning of the final story.
However, this was not to be and a romance with Frank did not begin.
Tom Selleck said one thing that disappointed him was that Frank had few love interests over the years because he preferred to play Frank’s flirtatious side.
While these comments are specific to the series as a whole, they suggest there won’t be a last-minute romance with Frank.
This makes sense. Family relationships on Blue Bloods, including those with romantic partners, are important, but this isn’t a soap opera.
Frank has always been a widower with no interest in moving on years after his wife’s death, and there’s no point in turning that around with only a few episodes left. Therefore, his relationship with Radley will be a strictly professional one rather than a foes-lovers story.
Additionally, if Blue Bloods wants to pull this off, they need to bring back Bebe Neuwirth as Kelly Peterson.
Kelly and Frank have great chemistry. As sparring partners, they are evenly matched and sparks easily fly.
Unfortunately, Blue Bloods is not going in this direction.
Kelly quit her job because of her feelings for Frank and hasn’t been seen since Blue Bloods Season 8 Episode 21, so it’s unlikely she’ll return in the finale.
‘Blue Bloods’ Season 14 Episode 13 Spoilers Foreshadow Henry’s Compelling Story
Over the past few years, Henry has only been given a full story in one or two episodes per season.
Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 13 spoilers say it’s his turn now. This may be his last big story, but if it is, it’s certainly one of his best.
Erin is shocked when she learns that Henry is testifying for the defense in the case she is prosecuting!
Not only will this test their strong grandfather-daughter relationship, it could also jeopardize Erin’s position in the case.
For the most part, Blue Bloods keeps things realistic, and I doubt any court in New York would have allowed the DA to cross-examine her grandfather.
This was even more true when Erin’s boss was Kimberly Crawford, who always found Erin annoying and didn’t like it when Erin sabotaged her on Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 12.
Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 13 spoilers also show a photo of Erin and Henry laughing together, so their conflict may be as short-lived as Erin’s conflict with Frank.
The Reagans often have a policy of leaving conflicts at the door during the Reagan Family Dinner, which is one of the best things about this show, so hopefully Erin and Henry can make up before talking about Grace.
I’m glad to see Henry active, though. I’ve been worried about him because his death was mentioned in the last two episodes.
If Henry dies before the series finale, it would be an incredibly disappointing ending for Blue Bloods, so hopefully this episode will put those fears to rest.
Danny and Baez’s case is tied to a cause that Mira Sorvino is passionate about
Mira Sorvino has been passionate about social justice before she became an actress and works with Amnesty International to end violence against women.
This leads to one of the causes she most strongly opposes: human trafficking.
Blue Bloods has also dealt with this issue in its stories, with the recent Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 1 beginning Jamie’s undercover story, in which he infiltrates a sex trafficking ring in hopes of apprehending the perpetrators and rescuing the victims .
Sorvino’s first episode follows a similar story, this time with Danny and Baez, who discover burned human remains in a warehouse and suspect they are murdered human trafficking victims.
“Blue Bloods” doesn’t delve as deeply into victim trauma as “Law & Order: SVU” does, but it always takes the subject seriously, and Danny and Baez will undoubtedly do whatever it takes to find out who these people are and why they are in this way.
Eddie is back with a compelling new case
If you missed Addie on Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 13, here’s good news: She and Badillo are back with a complicated case.
Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 13 spoilers say the process of apprehending the criminal becomes complicated when Eddie and Badillo learn that the suspect died of kidney cancer.
The spoiler photos also show them nervously staring at a bridge, suggesting they have to stop someone from jumping off.
I’m not sure what the suspect’s kidney cancer has to do with whether or not they should be arrested, but it’s possible the two will have a run-in with Officer McNichols again.
Addie is a perfect fit for the Regan family, as she’s not afraid to stand up to her superiors when she feels she’s being treated unfairly, while Badillo often takes the opposite view of hers.
This is going to make for interesting drama!
