Legendary Brenda Lee reaches another milestone as she debuts at the top of the charts advertising billboard‘s Top Country Albums Survey (dated January 4, 2025).
Rocking Around the Christmas Tree: Decca Christmas Records According to Luminate, the album’s sales jumped 40% to 53,000 copies in the United States from December 20 to 26, jumping to No. 1.
Lee, 80, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame (inducted in 1997) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2002), had her first top country album at No. 1 among six top 10 albums. This launch is also the first time she has led any advertising billboard Album Survey.
The album features 18 songs, including Lee’s 1958 multi-generational hit of the same name, which topped the Billboard Hot 100’s all-genre chart for three consecutive weeks last holiday season, as well as a Christmas-time hit Songs like “Blue Christmas,” “I’m Gonna Lasso Santa Claus” and “White Christmas.”
The record debuted in the Top 10 of Top Country Albums in 2019, following Lee’s previous Top 10: Brenda(7th peak, 1973); Brenda Lee’s Story (No. 6, 1973); new sunrise (Issue 3, 1974); ……winning handwith Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton (4th in 1983); and Brenda Lee Selections: 20th Century Masters, Christmas Collection (Issue 6, 2019).
Across all types of Billboard 200, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree: Decca Christmas Records “Jingles” surpasses its previous high of No. 17 at 19-15 and marks Lee’s new best ranking in more than 61 years on the charts. She has previously finished in the top 40 with: too many rivers (No. 36, 1965) and let me sing (No. 39, 1964).
Shabuze has his only longest No. 1 run of the decade
Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” spent 28 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, becoming the only longest-running hit song of the 2020s. The song, co-written by The Virginian (née Collins Obinna Chibueze), first reached the top spot in May and has now surpassed Gabby Barrett’s debut hit “I Hope,” which reigned 27 from July 2020 frame.
Since Hot Country Songs became the all-encompassing genre chart in 1958, only two songs have led the chart longer. “Body Like a Back” Road” (34 weeks, starting in February 2017). All four songs became hits on country and pop radio stations, further solidifying their chart performance.
“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” spent a record 19 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart between July and November.
From December 20-26, Shaboozey’s multi-format monster racked up a total of 59.9 million airplay impressions on radio, 16 million official live streams, and sold 5,000 copies in the United States.
