Capitol Records has made two key appointments to strengthen the digital marketing operations of its urban music division.
Justin Grant Appointed Senior Vice President and Director urban digitizationalthough Dante Smith Promoted to supervisor Motown digital.
Grant joins the Capitol Atlantic Recordwill oversee digital marketing campaigns across the company’s city roster, including Capitol, Motown and Prioritize recording Label. During Grant’s decade-long tenure at Atlantic, where he was promoted from intern to vice president of digital marketing and sports partnerships in 2014, Grant played a key role in the career development of hip-hop artists, including Cardi B, Lil Uzi Vert, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, and nba young boy. Meanwhile, Smith spent four years running successful digital marketing campaigns at Capitol before being promoted to head of digital at Motown, working closely with the following artists: Quavo, Toosi, JT, Kali Uchis, Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, Ice Spice, Queen Naija, Migos, and City girl.
In his expanded responsibilities, he will manage Motown’s digital marketing initiatives, direct-to-consumer efforts and overall brand development, while continuing to work with artists on Capitol’s roster. Smith, who is based at Capitol’s Hollywood headquarters, brings experience from previous roles at Capitol rebel tv and Hip Hop DXbegan his music industry career as an intern epic Record 2013.

The appointment comes as Capitol Records continues to expand its urban music presence. The combined slate of Capitol, Motown and Priority includes established and emerging artists such as Ice Spice, Kali Uchis, Hanumankind, Doechii, JT, Kodak Black, Quavo, NBA Youngboy, Offset, Lil Yachty, Toosii, BNYX, Yeat, That Mexican OT, Star Bandz, Sugarhill Ddott, Molly Santana etc.
The development marks Capitol Records’ appointment of Tom March as chairman and CEO and lily parsa as co-president in February.
